So what is helping everyone out this year? new swing? balls? what sort of adjustments have you made to accomplish these feats?

For me, I got better at my one house by 20 pins. This was due to me adjusting to throwing with 3 fingers instead of 2. I also have a spare ball which makes me so much more consistent and reliable. I bought lower end bowling balls to match up with my rev rate and speed. All of this has upped my game by 20 pins with more consistent spare shooting.

I dont get to practice really so learning on the fly is the name of the game.

Better first shots result in easier 1-2 pin spares.
New spare ball that fits correctly.
Shooting left side spares with the plastic ball, takes the midlane oil out of play.
BWPearl has new pitch in thumb.
Spinner from Stampy( miss him ) to keep polish on the BWP, more consistant from week to week.
I don't throw where every one throws, I now start on 12 board and move left from there. keep searching for oil.

Keep reading all the posts on the hammer message board, learn someting new every day.

Just a few off the top of my head.

I had no where to go but up. New equipment, fixed drilling, staying behind the ball better, more relaxed armswing and visiting other houses to bowl on tougher patterns.

- Took some lessons over the summer and re-worked my whole approach
- Dropped down to 15lbs with better fitting equipment
- Bowling in a PBA Exp league over the summer, which was a big help in learning the lanes and making adjustments
- More Equipment, especially having a spare ball now

I've learned finally to throw hard and straight at single pin spares.
10th pin conversion now is like 80%. before 40%

dedicated the time to learning the conditions, finding the hammer forum and asking questions to your guys, my fellow peers. befriended a local pro and with him helping me for free was able to take his brilliance and put some of it into my own game. yet bowling better to me might not be scores, but the feeling of knowing what i need to do and doing it the best way to make sure i feel comfortable.

one thing to everyone here, you did the right thing by joining and keeping up to date with each thread, if you can take away one new thing to add to yourself (not just bowling) you will be better :)

thanks guys!

no clue,

I hope it's the proverbial "you have to get worse before you get better"

I am paying more attention to some details ,and gathering more information.

This year I started bowling scratch tournies with Columbia staffer, Team USA members, and some really great bowlers in the area. That really helps you concentrate on making a good shot every time. also, bowling in these tournies has made me a better spare shooter, because I'm taking my time.

I have gotten a new driller and he adjusted things in my fit. I have also spent alot of time practicing and bowling with some Staff Members and Regional guys.

Better push away, staying in a better leveraged position, stronger hand position... learned to play more parts of the lane. Took a lesson, got a few tips here and there. Got to work with David Garber from the USBC on some points of my game. It added a couple elements, that don't always work but sometimes fit.

Staying behind the ball or the inside of the ball has helped me keep from coming around the ball to soon.

Bowled my second summer season in a PBA Experence League.

Shotting more spares with my trust spare ball. That was made in 2003, I think.

Added some new stuff to the arsenal:
BW Bite 5.5 MB at 40 Degrees
Psycho 5x5 Pin Up
Sauce 5.5x4.75 Pin Up
Acid 5x4.5 Pin Up
Hot Sauce 5x4 Pin-Down

Got a new pair of 3G Tour Ultra's, amazing shoes. (Used SST5's before...)

I would have to thank Sakae, Brandon and Frankie (my brother from a different mother) for helping me not only improve my game, but my mental game and playing the lanes. Without their help I wouldn't be enjoying my best league so far.

From the cell to the new Hammer equipment I just bought, they all have set me up with equipment that best fits my game and will further help me inprove my overall game. I give all three of them credit for my personal best game and series, because without all they done for me I doubt it would have happened this soon.

Even though my scores have not started to go up yet. My release has got alot more consistant and powerful.

This is due to me getting my trailing leg on the floor and keeping much much better balance at release.;)

I stopped practicing. Last year I practiced up to 13 games a week (at times, 13 games in a row). Didn't get better. This summer I didn't bowl more than a few times, and I am doing way better already getting 600 series a few times (never had one in league before) and what not.

I also am working on my release, which has helped. And having a spare ball is already helping me snag some spares I usually wouldn't get.

Alot more concentration on my strike shots and being able to adjust much better to lane transition.

Trying to stay relaxed and have fun with it. Focusing on my mark a lot more now. Also, using the right ball for the condition instead of forcing things.

I also REALLY improved this year mostly just recently. It is all due to me noticing that I had much better accuracy at hitting my mark when I threw the ball hard instead of what was my normal speed. As the lanes dried out and I picked up my speed...I would always shoot better scores. I then bought an ACID and this allows me to start with a little down and in shot and adjust deeper inside and still throw the ball HARD. My only problem is by throwing it hard...I have a tendancy to not come out of it good. I am not throwing hard enough to be out of control but with a few more games under my belt I should see a big improvement. Steve
