Well had my HSP out for the third outing and kind of bummed. I picked up some pretty good nicks. Also did it to my brand new spare ball. I know it will happen with time but still not real happy to see my HSP 2 weeks old with multiple nicks.
Not sure if I can resurface any out but want to make sure I am doing it right for this ball.
I believe I should start out with a 1000 grit pad, then on to a 4000 grit pad, and finish off with Powerhouse factory finish. Does this sound about right?
Oh yea, what if I do my, new Columbia White Dot, would the above method be okay also. Sorry just bummed to see them nicked up like they are. Not mad, I know it happens just not glad

you need finer resolution between steps. First if the "nick(s)" are any deeper than just a superficial scrape, then you may need to have it filled.
usually the progression goes 300ish,600ish,1000,2000,4000 then polish.
to remove any nicks/scrapes you have to go into the 300 range first.

Yea one near the thumb hole is not so good, deep.
I think I might try to resurface first then see where I stand.
So a little more progessive would be recommended?
#1 300
#2 1000
#3 4000
#4 Factory Finish
Or do you recommend the 600 and 2000 still between the above steps?
Will this process be okay for my White Dot?

dont skip the 600 and 2000
I never tried it on plastic, will defer to others for advice on that

Appreciate it. I found that the HSP is actually and 2000 with factory finish polish. So not a 4000 finish.
I do wonder about the White Dot myself.

Yea that sucks. But IMO if it's not in your track just leave it alone.

I do have a plastic ball to play, practice before touching my good balls. I still wonder if it will work on Plastic also.

I always tawt that resurfacing will cause "smaller sized balls". At least that's what I was told. Also agree that if it's not in the track, leave it.

I have to agree. If its not in your track just leave it alone.

It depends on how deep the scratches are... on how low of grit you'll need to use.
For lower grits I use Burgandy, Green and Grey Scuff Pads. Then you can come in with 1000, 2000 and 4000 Abralon, type of surfaces.
Yes between 300 and 1000, you need to go to a few grits. Skipping between 1000 and 4000 would be much different. It will be harder or more owrk on the 4000 pad, but it much smoother than 320. The reason you keep the grits closer to it easier to remove the sand lines from the previous grit. You'd wear out the pads much faster skipping great rnages of grits.
Consider Abralon Pads or Valentinos Pads are 4-7 each, I recommend using the in betweens.
Are you going to be doing this resurface on a spinner or by hand?

I have purchased abralon pads in 360, 1000, 2000. I found out the OOB is 2000 with factory finish polish on my HSP.
I will be using a spinner to do this work. Sounds like I need to make sure I can come up with a 500 pad, the only in-between my 360 and 1000. Or will I be okay this one time, though it may wear out my 1000 quicker?
I know the ball is only 25 games old, but the nicks are annoying, I do not believe they are in the track I just think I wouldn't be hurting anything by getting them out and bringing back to OOB specs.
I believe on my White dot I will go with 1000, 2000 and polish I believe this will be close to OOB also.
I know some have said just leave it alone. But seeing nicks it what I consider a new ball is getting on my nerves. So I would ask, with the comments leave it alone, WHY? would I be doing any damage, or is it I am being to anal :D ? that is a serious question by the way. Thanks

Guess it depends on how bad/deep the nicks are on the bowling ball. You won't cause damage, just make the smaller around, but it should not make a differance, unless you sand the snot out of the ball.
Honestly, I don't own any Abralon below 500... probably would not have much of it expect I got a deal. :D The higher the grit the faster the Abralon wears.

Sounds great. I just want them gone, I know each time your resurface you reduce the size ever so slightly. However I normally change balls after I have resurfaced the 4th time, based on number of games. She usually pretty warn out by then ;)

for the coarser grits, I use wet dry 3m sandpaper with plenty of water, then abralon at 1k and above
