This is my last question for awhile but what do you guys think of the Jazz as a light/dry oil ball?? I feel like the EV is going to be a little too strong for dry..... So what about the Jazz... anyone have experience with it??

Would any of you guys think the Jazz can work good in "SOME" carrydown?? And the bash red/black was my second choice. Ok better question, can both the Jazz and New bash work in carrydown (when it occurs) And the razyr I think is a little too strong...

If you want a dry lane ball, get a Razyr or an Ebonite Bash and polish it.

If you want aball for carry down, you do not want any of the balls yhou mentioned. A good carry down ball is something that is on the aggressive side that bhas a good roll and backend.

carrydown - The Clash (purple and turquoise) decent ball on dry
also try to find a Blue Vibe... i love how mine works on second shift and its strong in lighter oils as well...

I have a 2 Jazz'z.... and they are great light oil/short pattern balls. It has plenty of cover and doesnt hit like a wet sock. Very much like a Tornado.

For the other half of your concern....THE BEST THING FOR CARRY DOWN IS MOVING YOUR FEET. Stop trying to buy your way to the pocket. If you cannot move your feet, it doesnt matter what you buy.

Not to belittle him, but it kind of reminds me of seeing Amleto Monacelli with like a dozen Rhino's on the rack.

Bluerrpilot, you are absolutely right and now I see you as God. lol. No but seriously that is true. I have youth league members younger than me and they have 3,4,5 or ever more balls in their bag other than their benchmark and spare. And you know I learn something eles from my proshop guy and I quote him.

"It doesn't matter about the ball, it's the person"

Good quote and great. I mean sure I can buy a cheap light oil ball like the Jazz and be happy, but what if that doesnt work....Like blue said "Move your feet" And to tell you the truth, I know this, its just I dont listening and thats what makes me a hardhead  The Jazz is gonna be mine asap. The PR will stay in there and I move my feet on that too. So Blue good observation!!! I like that!!!!

(but I will say on Saturday's when I want to bowl, the lanes are sooo messed up you cant adjust at all, so thats why I need a light/dry oil ball, something on the cheap side....Jazz is my option and still great damn statement Blue, no matter what people say) :D

I wanted to say thanks, I was looking through the USBC mag and seen this ball and thought it might be something I could add to my game. I was thinking about the rayzr but im not sure on the longevity of the cover stock, I already have a spare ball and I thought the Jazz might be nice to have some thing for the dry shot. I currently have a Sauce and a Blue Vibe I have low to med revs and I had to adjust the cover stock down on my sauce to a white scotch bright pad and wow that ball hits like a insert the hardest hitting thing in life..... and I havent figured the best line to run with this one, I have never been this deep before.

Here's what I think for dry lane balls.

I saw where someone mentioned to Clash. I personally find the reaction too unpredictable. It's the only ball I have HAD (I gave it away I hated it so much) that I could throw the exact same shot and on the same spot, but it reacts totally differently. I personally would stay away from it.

I decided for my birthday to drill up a Rayzr but guess who's proshop doesn't stock it? MINE. My guy had just drilled up a Brunswick Avalanche Slide that was very close to my specs. He told me to go throw it so I did. I am a hammerhead for life....but this ball was great for what I needed it to do. I drilled one up and couldn't wait to throw it when the lanes broke down. I moved it about 5 boards compared to my Venom (which is polished up with XXX) and bam. This ball hit great and got through the carry down that was left. I was greatly impressed with this ball and it's one of the very few NON-HAMMER balls I recommend!

Yesterday, I ordered a Jazz for my arsenal. I feel like this ball will go through the lanes with ease hen the lanes are dry. Like most of you have said, I will have to adjust a lot during my game(s) of bowling and it's the best thing to do. Plus I needed something with a weaker core and a somewhat weak coverstock, And since I don't have a perfect release, they may be the best for me.... Im also gonna ask my pro shop guy to help me on the approach that way I can be consistent to the pocket. Instead of being about 55%, maybe I can be 85-90% to the 1-3 pocket. Furthermore the ball choice is NO longer the problem, it's my approach. If I can fix that, I can maybe get my 165 avg. Maybe up to a 175+ that way I can make the JR Masters League at my alley. Wish me the best of luck....:) ;)

No teams consist of 3. Object is have you and your teammates try to bowl the highest game possible and beat the other team. Also SOME teams have handicapp advantages because either they averege low or VACENT sports (That's my thursday league)

Saturday leagues has a draft before the season. Top 8 avereges are captains and will bowl anchor. There everything falls in place. Match points are awarded for wins....

Ok, so they pick A,B and C bowlers in that league, then that would be a good league, I was going to say if it was strictly a scratch league with no handicap and no average cap then would be pointless to bowl in it till you got your average up, but with A,B, and C bolwers it works out. Good Luck.

From what I know the Saturday b4 league, they have all the bowlers who want to be in the league bowl 4 games. And out of all the bowlers the top 8 avereges will be captain/anchor on the team and the team name would be there last name. Something along those lines. BUT in order to qualify, I need a 175+ averege to make it...... So these Thursdays I bowl is pretty much practice till the real thing. I've watched these guys a few times. Each member has about 3+ balls and by 2nd-3rd game, there are pulling out there polished balls from Track Tantrum, Hammer Razyr, Columbia Scout, Ebonite Bash, to whatever. B4 then they have the benchmarks (Up-Rising-Black Widow Pearl-Power Swing) All examples so Idle you guy somewhat of my point eh??

What does guy somewhat of your point mean?

Also BWP, not much of a Benchmark ball, atleast my the normal definition of one, went through that stage where that ball was first out of my bag, very bad judgement on my part.

Good Luck with the new league, does sound like one of the better ones in the area, especially if the kids (Im assuming its juniors) know how to adjust and change balls, theres a very slim number in this area that have that much of a clue.

I ment "got" my bad!:D

Eh I havent throw Hammer I was thinking about it (Like duh with all the EV and Razyr posts :p ) But you never know. It depends on the skill

Thank you man, I may have to wait awhile because one Im in a GIANT slump. (I just gotta fix my time and approach stance and I may have a chance to hit my mark) and two I don't drive yet (UGH!) But I will. So I may have to wait till September... The kids are good. A couple 14, 15 year olds who averege from a high 190 to about a low 220. And most of the juniors are cranker and tweeners. Of course Im a stroker with low revs, yet high speed (which I will have to fix, slow down a lot) To me this season im in right now on Thursdays (ends in May) is an adjustment, fixing problems, getting ready season. Then the new season on Thursdays, in May, I gotta go out there and give it my all for a chance!!! Thanks Idle
