Just a poll to see if you tuck it in or out. Nice to see and hear different styles of play

I normally keep my index finger next to my middle finger and keep my pinky as far out from my ring finger as possible. Not sure where that puts me on the poll.

Depends on what I am trying to do. Moving the pinky and index finger around can give you different roll on the ball

When trying to get forward roll on the ball I tuck my index finger in. Otherwise, I keep it relaxed in I guess a normal position.
I don't mess with my pinky... though I have noticed alot of the pros recently have been tucking their pinky

I have my pinky pushed right up against my ring finger, but not tucked, index finger is spread out. Depending on how I want my ball to roll I sometimes change it, but the one thing I never do is tuck my pinky, more lift for me is a bad thing.

I do pinky against ring, index spread out. I used to tuck my pinky, but I've since stopped, no noticeable difference to me.

My coach over the past Summer taught me to keep my pinky finger right up against my ring finger and to have my index finger far away from my middle finger. This is supposed to help the ball drive a little harder and keep the pins lower so that there's a better chance of the 10 pin getting kicked out.

That's exactly what i do, pinky in pointer out, no tucking.

Idle carries the 10 Pins cause it's easier from his side.
Crusher thanks for the tip... if you start share more tips like this we'll have to stop calling a ball wh:eek: re. Will have to try that one next time I leave a 10 Pin. Normally I just move forward and that fixes it for me.
Did not think the choices cover the range of options, but I never tuck either finger.... I just lay them on the ball in whatever position I need.

It depends on what you want the ball to do. Basically, the positions of your index/pinky fingers will shift the weight of the ball on the middle and ring fingers allowing more or less lift on the ball at release. During practice you should find your normal strike line and then try different positions and finger tucks to see the difference in how the ball rolls.

I tuck mine.. Index finger normally out as far as I can place it from my middle finger.. I will move my index but my pinky is always tucked no matter what.

I do a bunch of different things... (probably why I'm not as consistent as I can, but here it goes):
On any normal evening, i usually have my index finger out as far as possible with the pinky as close to the ring, but never tucked under. If I feel like I'm having control issues, i'll spread the pinky finger out and it seems to help stabilize my release to hit a more consistent target. Also, any single pin spares EXCEPT for the 10-pen and multiple pin spares, I use this grip as well. For the 10-pin, I always bring my index in as close to the middle finger as possible and spread the pinky out as wide as possible. Feels like it restricts myself from over-rotating and pulling it. Ever since I started doing this, i've only missed 2 10-pens in the past 2 years.

Index finger out and pinky in tight to ring finger... Improved my carry greatly.
