Black Widow Discontinued? [Archive]

I heard that hammer will be dropping the Black Widow, Black Widow Pearl, and the Black Widow Bite effective immediately......Jeff are you around to answer? I'm shocked but not surprised, but will we see the resurgence of the BW line in the future? Different cover stock or even different weight block?

Anyone else heard this?

Also heard the Anger was going to be discontinued, although I hope it isn't true.

I may have to buy a couple to put away for later use.

That would be a bummer, but I'm sure that there are plenty left out there in the retail chain. Also it's exciting because it makes me wonder what the're making room for:)

They should keep the Solid, other than that its about time. They have had 2 more widows released and 2 more Raw Hammers since the mentioned balls were released, its surprising they lasted this long.

I agree keep the BWS ,best ball ever made IMO..but if it It is discontinued which I hope it isn't its probably one of the
better if not the best line in bowling.

hope not!!but look on the bright side,if they do you should be able to pick them up pretty cheap...can get a beat'n for £97 now.

But to be honest no matter how good the ball is or was, it will come to the end of its cycle.

So I'd say the BW and BWP will be gone pretty soon, the Bite is over a year old.. so yeah it probably getting pretty close as well. The question is do they keep the Venom?

Didn't the CV, Anger and BWP get released in the Summer of 07? The only one that might stay of those would be the CV... just because the releases in that line are limited.

But the question should be does the new core in the Chalk come to the Black Widow line or will it be in the new line?

Would have to disagree with that, think the T-Road line or the Cell line would probably be the best in the sport right now especially based on tour performance. Hammer seems to be trying to move in a different direction, which is commendable. Bettering your brand is always a good thing.

Im with you on the Cell and the T-Road, they are currently the best. This makes me wonder if the Cell will last as long as the BWS did.

I don't care for the Cell. Cell died out after 30 or 40 games and I haven't cared for what I've seen with the Cell Pearl. Although the Rogue Cell looks like it will be a beast.

You'd be very surprised by the Cell Pearl, I would put this ball up with my TNV as one of the best balls I ever put in my hands. I can use it on dry and oil, its sooo predictable, but strong enough to cut through the juice. Im contemplating, Hyroad or Rogue Cell. Not sure yet.

depending on the new gear is depending if i get another hammer ball or not for another 6-12 month

i know my importer found a total nv 15lbs! and a nvd cheap so i'm sticking them in the cupboard with my sling blade

I hate my Bite...
My Pearl wasn't good til I brought it to 2000, and even then it wasn;t up to my standards.
Venom is prolly the best ball I've ever bought. I only use it for tourneys tho.
Never had the solid.

Don't even get me started on the "Heavy Oil Anger" Ha.. My little bro uses it as a drier lane ball, and he revs it around 350-375. His Hy-Road out hooks it by a mile.

Oh and for the past post. My cell is garbage...

Jeff was throwing the acid inside the anger by about 5 boards or so.
Acid was longer but is longer always better??

I love the Widows

Bite - Was really hating it untill I gave it lot and lots of hot water baths and polished it up. Now its a solid piece in my arsenal.

Solid - The best ball that came out that year and still it performance has not diminished. Need to buy another one I already have one OOB+Extender Polish need one at OOB or 2000 sanded.

Never tried the pearl and the venom was too strong for me.

If and when the Widow line goes away I can safely say popel will be looking to buy them afterward for their performance. As for the NZew lines, Hammer Iintroduced The Sauce, now all the Manufactures are producing balls like the Sauce. Ebonite - The Majic / Roto Grip- Rouge Cell / AMF- Mega Friction / Storm has theirs / Columbia has theirs. See the pattern. You will find with these agressive oil soakers that they do not react like OOB reaction after about 50-75 games, They need surface adjustments, Polish or otherwise .

The ANger was and still is a great ball. What some do not know is the Raw Anger balls preform better with Pin under drill layouts comopated to pin up layouts. As for the Widow line being discontinued, if it does in the near future I do no think anyone can say anything bad about it. It has last way way longer than any other manufacture's line of equipment. It is still a great core design and I bet once it is off the marker it will be modified and put into something different.

The Black Widow Solid is hands down THE best ball ever produced. I'll hate to see it go away, but there will always be something just as good (hopefully lol). My Hot Sauce is my newest "favorite ball" right now.

The Anger is also the best "cheap" heavy oil ball I've ever seen too. Great ball at a low price. It's been around awhile, so I could see it ending soon. I'm sure Hammer has something just a great up their sleeve to replace anything they close the door on.

or when Brunswick buys out roto grip:eek: never ever would happen. first of all they would have to buy storm out, again not gonna happen. only company that is remotely capable to do that is ebonite and yes i did get some "info" a while back from an insider they were looking at doing that. brunswick isn't in the greatest shape and probably just not capable of buying a bigger company than them right now out.

I hope they do something with the no mercy line, the no mercy was one of my favorite balls but lacked the hitting power of the BWP that I had, instead if sounded like a cupcake getting squished when it hit the pins.

No Mercy line is most likely permanently done, was a dud. Mostly drillings problems but most people didnt like it, althought some did.

Which I will have soon. But I was coming closer to medium oil, that has a core, something like a particle pearl reaction would be wonderful.
