whilst bowling last night i left a 4,7 10 split. i covered the 4,7 and 1 pin bounced out the back hit the sweep and rolled in front of the 10 pin.a bit later a friend said if it had taken the 10 pin it wouldnt of counted because it came off the sweep and was therefore dead..is this true???

at my lanes.
by the time the sweep is down, the thing that grabs the pins, would have grabbed the pin already securing it to move it up, even if the a pin would have rolled back and hit a still standing pin, it can not tumble it anymore.

it was the 2nd shot so the sweep would have just swept them away :)

Untill the Pin setter touches the pins, all pins are in play no matter if they touch the sweep, kick board, comes out of the pit, .
LEGAL PINFALL
Pins to be credited to a player following a legal delivery shall include:
1) Pins knocked down or off the pin deck by the ball or another pin.
2) Pins knocked down or off the pin deck by a pin rebounding from a side
partition or rear cushion.
3) Pins knocked down or off the pin deck by a pin rebounding from the
sweep bar when it is at rest on the pin deck before sweeping dead wood
from the pin deck.
