though it may be a strange question very curious. I certainly do not claim to understand the differences in coverstocks.

If I do my research and look for a heavy oil ball, I find the Storm VG is probably one of the highest on the list. My game is just not suited for skid/flip so much.

So to my question-If I was to take my HSP and take the end result to say a 600 abralon grit and NO polish, then how would the two balls compare. Could the HSP read the lanes like a Storm VG? or since the HSP was never intended to be like the Storm VG you can't make it be like it. And if I truly want a heavy oil lane then I should just add the Storm VG to my arsenal and keep the HSP as it was meant to be?

Thanks

Although the HSP will never be like the VG, you get a similar reaction by adjusting the cover I would say to 1000 abralon without the polish along with a Pin under drill layout to get it to read the mids earlier. 600 may be too much but you could try it first and if it isn't what you like go up in grit.

But if you are looking for it to be the same as a VG it won't be. Close but not the same. Drill layout combined with a surface adjusment will make a big difference. The Vg is an asymetrical core and the HSP is a symetrical core wich makes a difference also . The VG is 400 abralon, the HSP is 2000 abralon polished.

Don't think could take the place of a VG. The Sauce rolls pretty early so that may be a better comparsion. Maybe even the Cell.

Now with the HS it come at 2000 Abralon and Polished. I've used mine at 2000 and 1000... for me 1000 dull has been the best. It still turns corner very hard. But it smoothed out the roll only a bit and has made the roll more even and predictable... heck it has even given more room for error on the right conditions. This ball is not meant for bone dry bumper or crazy wicked flying backend unless you have the speed or get it wide at the break point.

So yes I think it might be pretty good at 500 Abralon, it might need polish or not.

Don't be afraid of experiment with ball surface. Thats why alot of us have spinners at home.
