It should work OK. That's just like leaving your bag in the car in hot weather and the oil starts to come on the surface of the ball.
I use the hot bath method and works great. Get a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot or similar place if you don't have one.
I don't like the Sun baking the ball ideal. If you must I would limit the time in the sun to the Temp outside.

Actually to open the pores properly, the suface should be sanded with 500 grit and then the Hot Water method. But first of all it baffles me why your pro shop would tell you to do it yourself instead of offering to get the oil out for you.

bubba, they never offered i dont know why but they are resurfacing my bws and i pulled my perfect rival out of the bag and showed him the dark spots on the ball and thats when he said well what i would do is put it on my porch and wipe it with a towel with alcohol and repeat. but i like the method you mentioned and it sounds more logical than what i tried today.thanx for the help guys.

Just remember after bringing the surface to 500 to open the pores, Give the ball the Hot Water bath a few times till all the oil is removed from the ball./ Then restore the surface to the Factory finish by going going up in steps with the abralon untill you have reachd the factory finsih surface.

there should be a black list of pro shops... when a pro shop says something like that, thats just incredible... If they dont have the machines to remove the oil, they should recommend the hot water method (recommended by Morich as well) the water is a consistent temperature (stay below the 130 degree F mark) and slowly cools... the sun can heat a ball to 150 - 160 then clouds and winds can actually crack the ball...
no offense to a pro shop for not having the machines to remove oils but Powerhouse has a product called Hook Again Treatment that is EXTREMELY effective. $11 bucks a bottle on most sites but then you need the Hook again container which is like $20... but would be great for the pro shop to have it... either way hot water or hook again will do the trick... i always use the hot water... except when i buy a used ball from someone then ill do the hook again and a resurface.
either way good luck.
