i feel your pain, my only suggestion is that you practise your tenpin over and over and over again until u get 10 in a row and if u miss, start all over again

I'm hearing what your saying!!! I'm not sure how you are going about it, but I used to shoot with my spare ball from similar spot to my 1st shot... Never had much success, but now I have moved to extreme left and taken half a step foward, shoot flat handed (if you wear a wrist-brace, remove it!) and a little bit faster from almost in the left gutter. Going from left front gutter across the lane to right back gutter and the 10 pin!! This seems to have helped me heaps, might miss 1 in 10 or 15 nowadays.

Hope this helps you... the half step forward made heaps of difference to my 10 pin shot.

One thing to remember though is what Brett said... practice, practice, practice. And when you think you've got it... practice some more!!! Ha-Ha. All the best with it...

PS. Ya don't need to pay your coach to stand around watchin you practice 10 pins, you know where it is!!

Going through something similar with my tuff. Just not used to throwing a straight ball after all these years. http://www.bowl4fun.com/ron/roncarchive.htm Read the article titled "kick ball for strikes and spares". That helped me out on picking up the ten pin. Basically, I draw the line in my head, then roll. Still takes practice. But, now I have some idea of what I'm doing....

one of the easiest ways to correct this is to take your middle finger out of the ball and use just your thumb and ring finger. you can still throw normally but because your middle finger is out of the ball you cant get the same amount of revs off it and thus in return you should be able to pick it up i was alittle timid about doing it but it has helped tremendously so if you try it let me know how it went later

this worx for every guy I have told. probably not new advice....

(for RH-bowler) stand with ur left BIG toe to the far left (I use the board with the last dot furthest left) and keep your eye on the 3rd arrow (counting from right-to-left that is). DO NOT suitcase the ball at all (your thumb should face at 12-oclock). take a half-step forward from your normal distance from the foul line and then throw thru that 3rd arrow mark. be sure to follow thru. it will look like it's going to drop in the gutter but will come back right at the 10 pin. this also works for the 9 pin but simply stand ONE board further right. this works for many, many different balls, many bowling styles, and almost every lane condition I have seen.

instaed of telling you many different ways of shooting it I will say while practicing shoot the 10 pin first then throw your strike ball. If you miss the 10 shoot at it again. In practice scores do not matter and you will thank youself later in league play when your score are better due to less open franes due to a single pin. good luck.....

I agree with big blue. When you are practicing the score does not matter. Even if you have a full rack, take a shot at the 10 pin. I stand far to the left and pick up my speed. I throw it right at the gutter with medium revs and it holds on for me and comes back enough for the 9 or 10. All I can say is practice and practice some more. Once I was able to pick up my spares then my average went up a good 15-20 pins.

Good luck with your practice:cool:

Once again, reason why I use 1 ball (whatever ball I am using in that game) for all my spare shots. If you use a spare ball, you need to practice, practice, & practice with that spare ball for the shots you bought it for. My 10-pen shot is standing 3-4 boards left of the far left dot, throwing out between the 3rd & middle arrow area a little harder than my first shot, using the "break wrist" method. As long as my approach is in line and a relaxed shot, I will hit the 10 pen more often than naught. Any miss is usually .to the left of the 10-pen by a hair.

This past Saturday night league, I had an all spare game (1st) for a 188, my second game was 212 and 3rd a 205. Had 4 or 5 ringing 10-pin shots. I used the Hawg Zilla last 2 games:cool:

I'll third this and I'll go farther. When I'm practicing I'll throw at the 10 pin with the full rack. On the second ball I'll throw the 7 pin. I'll do this in warm ups before leagues as well.

Good point knight. I still have to practice on my 7 pin. I know it sounds wierd but I have always had more problems with left side spares than I have with right side spares. It is wierd because I am right handed:o . I dont have many problems with single pin conversions now though.
