Well, since returning from a 4 year absence from league bowling and over 10 years since updating my equipment, I finally got back on track.

Tonight I rolled a 647. In some ways, I'm a little disappointed since I started off so well.

BTW, thanks to all for the tips a few weeks back about starting slow. I have reversed that. Now I don't have any trend on when I'll bowl a good game or bad game. Tonight I started strong and finished weak.

I rolled 247, 211 and 189. OK, keep in mind that this week was a little different conditions for this league. We are usually the second league, but today, the first league didn't bowl, so we had fresh oil.

So, game one, used the PAIN and started with a 6 bagger, and converted a 1,2,10.

Game 2, switched to the TOXIC and strung a 5 bagger in there and opened in the 11th for my first open of the night.

Game 3 had two opens in the middle frames and had a 7-10 in the 10th.

Anyway, it felt good to bowl good and I threw a ton of strikes and converted all of my non-split spares and converted one even.

The PAIN - TOXIC one two punch is working out great and I'm learning when to make the swtich.

Enjoy, lets see some more good scores. Just remember you always got the best pair of lanes in the house.

Yeah, that's a good thought to have. Thanks!

I was wondering when we would get another report from grayfin68. Clearly if you don't get bad break in 10th of 3rd game all would have been over 200.

Could you share the line you used once you went to the Toxic? Did you have to change lines again in 3rd game?

My line doesn't change much with the TOXIC as far as my starting position or target. The ball just goes straighter through the heads.

There is not a dramatic difference btw the PAIN and the TOXIC other than that. I find the back end reaction to be a little sharper with the PAIN.

I throw pretty hard (17-18 mph), start left foot around 32 and throw at the second arrow. When I say throw at, I really mean throw the ball through it. Tha's my thought process anyway during normal conditions.

In the 3rd game, I had to move about one board left. So, for three games, I was able to bowl almost the same, and just know when to switch, which for me is when I throw the PAIN on target and it comes up high.

I realize that I could just adjust with the PAIN, but I bought the TOXIC so I'd have a ball on lighter oil, so I may as well use it, right?

Thank you for the information.

I asked because I am considering how to use the Toxic I should be getting today via UPS. Since my BW is pretty versatile I can just about get along exclusively with it. When BW goes to strong but isn't able to handle my inside move I go to the NM. The NM just hits harder on my inside line.

I guess I can go to Toxic right away when lanes are a little drier at outset so I can play out right a little longer before going to NM.

Do you switch balls only when you are coming in high? Do you ever switch balls when you are leaving too many 10 pins? That is problem when I go inside with BW. Sometimes I find that if I drop my speed to get ball to make turn when I go further inside I leave a load of 10 pins. That is not as much of problem with NM but still one reason that I don't really like to move to far left.

No, but I haven't run into leaving too many 10 pins on league night because the conditions don't really require me to play inside. In my experiences, the only time I struggle with leaving 10 pins is when I play inside, in practice. I think it's more of a matter of when you play inside, you have less margin for error, hence more ten pins. I believe it's caused mainly by the lack of a good angle.
