I thought we both were gonna be reporting back 600 series, LOL. I was about 107 pins under that, I shot a 493, . I dont know what it is, I stand in the same spot every week and throw the ball the same, and the lanes are oiled the same every week. I shot 177, 189, and 127. First series under 500 all year and it dropped my avg from 196 to 194.1. I guess there is only room for improvement next week.

Hope you don't mind a BW owner chiming in, but I feel your pain and had to say something. :( I've hit some kind of mental wall! I have two good games, then one crap game. My 3rd week with the BW, I got my 1st 600 series, but for some reason, I seem to tank a game to kill any chance of reaching 600 again. It's very frustating! One of the nice things about this forum, I see I'm not alone. It's kinda like a bowling support group. :)

I think you just answered your problem. Standing in the same spot for every shot should score poorly in your last and/or second last game. The Hawgzilla is an aggressive ball that absorbs allot of oil. So you need to move to a new line or try a different ball.

I find that I open my first (and some times part of my second) game with the hawgzilla. The lanes are very oily, so I play my comfort shot moving maybe 2 to three boards. This basically grooms my line for a lighter ball later. So once my line is burnt for the hawgzilla, I put it away and use a polished bigblock diesel. My league is four games, so I end up moving about 5 to 10 boards with the diesel over the last three games. I bowl in a sport league so the lanes may break down quicker, but once you stop seeing the reaction you are use-to, it's time to start making adjustments.

Best of luck!

Keep practicing, your scores will go up. I am a good example of someone who used to never practice and my average hovered around 170. Now that I practice, my average is easily in the 190's.

The way your series went the other night was the norm for me at the start of the season. I bought my Widow and practiced a lot and worked on my spares and have since brought my average up by a fair amount. I dont claim to be a good bowler but lots of practice has help me tremendously.

I didnt really mean to say I stay in the same spot, I do move, but not that much. I start with my left foot on the left side of the far left dot, and move maybe 1 to 2 dots over. I try to throw a straight shot and let it hook into the pocket, but like you said with the Hawg Zilla being agressive, it dont work, so I gotta move back over and play my normal shot. Its crazy because when I shot my 300 and then a 212 and 200 right after, I did stay in the same spot and it was working. But I do understand what your saying, I might have to adjust alittle more than I like too, just to score higher.

My avg is 194.1, I like to put the . in there so I can figure out what I need to score on my next outing to get my avg up to a certain #. Like for instance I need a 650 series next week to bump my avg to 195.3, and a 700 would put me at 196.3. All I want is to have a 200+ avg at the end of the league, which is 32 weeks long, and next week is week 18.

Just got done practicing for the day. What a great day for lane conditions. The lanes were scary similar to league night. I could play my normal shot and at the end I only had to move one board left with the TOXIC and I moved up a little with the PAIN.

I was using both balls and threw tons of strikes. I missed some spares, mostly splits though and a 10 pin.

Five games low game 189, finished with a 221 and averaged 209.

Practice is helping me immensely. My official league average before throwing a 647 last Tuesday is 189. So, I'm sure it's a little higher now.

My first night in league during my comeback was 161. That's only 3-4 months of bowling and practicing 1-2 times a week. My average is around 30 pins higher than I started.

Prior to my return to bowling, my highest league average was 174.

Thank you Hammer and fellow Hammer Heads. I want to get better and see where I can take it and get into more competitive bowling.
