It's so hard to try to shoot straight at a spare after throwing a hook at them for so long. Even though I flatten out my wrist when I shoot spares, the ball still hooked a little. With the tuff, it doesn't hook at all. Big change, just takes some time to get used to....

I, too, just got a Black Widow. Well, I took it out for practice today and found out some things. I have it tamed too much, but my machanics still suffer. I can use it to pick up ten pens. I picked up all single splits. No spare ball used. Used my normal method for right side spares and the 369 for left. The problem, I had was the ball kept fallen out, because the thumb hole is too big. bought tape and put two layers on seemed to help. But, I hope that monday is a good night for me.

Keep practicing. I've been back bowling for close to 4 months now after a few years of no bowling.
This is the first time in my life that I have dedicated myself to practicing at least once per week.
The improvement did not happen right away. It may take some time, but eventually it pays off. My average is rapidly rising. I'm getting to the point where I am expecting to throw 200 games instead of hoping for them.
The reason is because I'm working on my mechanics which increase consistency through repetition. Plus my spare shooting is getting better by leaps and bounds.
I successfully converted all 4 10 pins that I left on Tuesday and they were all perfect dead on shots.
I also converted a 1,2,10 split and only missed some other splits. I picked up every makeable spare that night.
I know I probably won't bowl like that every time out, but those nights will increase the more I practice.
