I just brought a 15lb hot sauce bowling ball.
I don't know if it's just me but I used to bowl with a tight thumb hole.
I feel like I'm more accurate with a tight thumb hole than a loose one, but my thumb was bleeding after I bowl 8 games.
And I'm also wondering if a loose thumb hole will increase rpm on my bowling ball?
Thanks.

First let me welcome you to the Hammer Message board.

Now for your question about your thumb hole. People use a tight thumb hole is decrease the want to squeeze the ball if the thumb hole is too big. The bleding of your thumb is not a good thing. It will only lead to other problems and pain in the future. You want the thumb hole to be tight enough so you dont have to squeeze the ball to hold onto it, but you dont want it so tight that you cant let go of it or cause thumb problems. You want the thumb hole to be just the right size in order to have a clean release of the thumb. A tight fitting thumb will sometimes cause pulled shots and not being consistant also. I would also have the span and pitches checked by your pro shop to see if any changes are needed and that they are correct.

I would make the thumb hole just a tad bigger than your thumb. This way you could add a piece of tape if needed for that releaxed and clean thumb release. Remember, your thumb must exit the ball first before your fingers.

What caused the thumb to bleed? Sharp edges on the thumbhole? need more of an indication.

I like my thumb tight. The feeling that I like is the thumb being pulled from my hand. I also use Pre Cut Hada Patch on the back of my thumb. and depending on the speed of thumb release will determine the color Fast - Blue, a little Slower Red even slower Aqua, slowest Grey

Depending on the feel I need I will used White tape or Vise Ta2-c or Ta2-d the kind that looks like snow tire tread or both.

Thanks for you guys' responses.
I do use tapes, but I guess maybe I used too much tapes.
Probably will try to use fewer tapes next time after my thumb recover.
Thanks again guys.:D
