Well, I don't have pics, but my arsenal is first my Neon Orange Maxim for strictly spares and extreme dry situations.

Cell Pearl- 2-3 inch pin. (unsure) Pin slightly above ring finger but kicked right an ich or more. Cg in line under that pointing away from middle of span and MB way right of my thumb in line also. My controllable ball.. No polish and near 1000 grit. Use it usually the 1st game and switch to the longer but stronger burn, or use it to end off the night..

Burn- OOB 2-3 inch pin (again, unsure..) Pin above bridge maybe a millimeter of of center.. Cg Kicked a little right so that it's under my Ring finger almost touching the finger grip. Driller told me it was drilled weaker or just to save its energy better. Which it does pretty well for me :D This is my Strongest of the arsenal, looking to add something for heavy lanes later.. Very strong backend, If I hit within a few boards of my mark I still hit and carry very nicely. This ball makes me wanna trade my CP for a hammer. :p This is usually my ball used to tell how oily the lanes are.

Jigsaw (box finish)- 5.5 X 4 which puts the pin 1" over bridge and mass bias 1" right of thumb. Throwing it for the first time today (well I rolled it yesterday but it was after a bunch of kids so everything was rolling out half way down the lane and flattening in the back), hoping it will be my heavier oil ball but still clear the heads for me. Will review Monday after throwing it on 2 house shots + a pba shot.

Black Widow Pearl (4000 abralon, no polish)- 4.75 X 4.5 pin barely above ring, mass bias right next to thumb. Ball gets a ton of length and flip for me, but still revs up in the midlane so it doesn't skate too far on heavier medium oil.

Hot Sauce Pearl (2000 abralon, polish has worn off) - 5 X 4 pin above bridge cg kicked right. Gets through the heads very clean but starts to hook in the midlane. Good on most patterns above light.

Raw Hammer Psycho (2000 abralon+polish) - 4.25 X 3.5 pin under ring cg right. Great benchmark ball for me, reads the lane well throughout, gets a good amount of midlane for a pearl but doesn't really recover a ton for me. But I drilled it to be controllable, so I wasn't expecting it to.

Ebonite Bash (2000 abralon) - 4 X 2.5 pin under and a little right of ring, cg kicked right. Ball reacts very well for me on most patterns under Medium-Heavy. A decent amount earlier than my Psycho, but less on the backend. Was my go-to ball on most PBA patterns I bowled on last year.

Street Rod Pearl (4000 abralon) - 6 X 4.5 pin next to middle finger. Clears the heads, midlane and most of the backend, lol. Ball works wonders when everything else is just too early. But because of the drill it tends to be really viscous off of the dry. Great on light oil, just gotta get deep.

I'm bowling in a PBAX league and one more 5 man league. Will get pics up later.

Well, I'm completely retooling right now so none of what I will have is drilled right now, but its on the way!!! But it will be:

Evolve: Heavy oil, something to go fairly long with a HARD snap at the end.
Jigsaw: Heavy oil when the angle on the Evolve gets to be too much and I'm leaving ringing tens.
ONE Pearl: Similar to the evolve, only for medium oil
Lane Breaker: Smooth reaction on medium oil
Visionary OGRE Urethane: Light oil, really wanted a urethane ball for one house in my Travel League

I will be having an in depth discussion with my pro shop guy soon and will update with actual drillings and possibly pics soon!

Ebonite NVD
Surface Finish: 4000 Grit Abralon(Box)
Comments: I use this ball for my heavy oil, not flippy but not archy backend just right for me on heavy oil, its drilled like my Total NV to have like a little step down from my NVD

Box Finish: 4000 Abralon Polish (needs touching up)!

Comments: This is a very Versatile ball, be used on short pattern, dry patterns, THS, anything really just not long or heavy patterns, I tend to use this ball a lot, due to the controllable backend

Both of these seem to react almost identically for me.

Anger: 400+ games, ball is pretty dead despite baths and resurface
Psycho: Ball rolls out, good for a light shot, but with the early roll very limited use. Follows a very angular straight out to the edge, straight back into the pocket line with the right release/oil.

Getting a VG from my "free ball" league. Will be my only solid and will drill it aggressive.

Would like to add a hybrid or smooth arcing ball like the onyx but that will have to wait a bit.

I will be adding a Jigsaw, a No Mercy and either a Nomad solid or a Onyx Vibe.

Cell Pearl 5x4.5 with MB 2 inches right of thumb at about 70degrees this is my starting ball on most THS it is 1500 + Polish pic to come later

Well...I'm looking at

No Mercy 4000 polished, pin at 5 inches to PAP, heart in third ring of track - flood oil, and I mean flood.

Toxic 4000 polished pin at 5 1/2 inches to PAP - medium heavy to medium

Pyro at 2000 polished pin at 6 1/4 inches to PAP, pin under - medium heavy to light, all forms of short oil.

Spare ball for the obvious stuff and bone dry

I dont ever get to use my NM anymore, too many revs for my Toxic on most conditions around here, and when the toxic is too much I got the pyro, which doesnt have track flare almost at all. I use the Pyro on all short patterns as mentioned, it is the most sensitive ball to axis rotation, if I put any on it (which isnt usual, I have a lot of forward roll as ever) it will glide through any form of oil.

I've been scoring real nice with the Toxic, it hits like a monster, my Pyro hits rather flat, all of the power at the pins is all generated by me, not the ball. I still shoot rather well with the Pyro though, it leaves pickable things when the Toxic does not for me.

Have 2 different 5 man teams for the season along with my tourneys...My arsenal is as follows - PAP is 4.5 over, .5 up

Roto Cell - Pin over Ring long and strong arc for heavier
BW Pearl - Pin over ring, long and flip (currently still hits harder than all the rest)

BW Solid - 2000 finish, drilled the same as above...has slightly less backend then the pearl

2nd Dimension RICO - 2000 polished for when the ousides are a little drier

If I can afford them...Jigsaw, Sting and Burn...
All drilled same as above, except the sting would be pin under ring, and the 2nd dimension will go back in the closet....Jigsaw will be for PBAX, PBA and tourneys mostly as I will see enough oil to use it....

bmoros300
07-23-2009, 09:14 PM
Also, Here is how I am playing for my PBA conditions and regionals...

Shark - BW, BW Pearl, playing very deep inside

Viper - Roto Cell, BW Pearl

Scorpion - BW Pearl (stayed with all 8 games)

Chameleon - Roto Cell, Virtual Gravity (sold the VG)

Cheetah - 900 Global Chain Link, Bruns Vapor Zone

US Open - Roto Cell, BW Pearl

As you can see, I really like my BW pearl, I am a stroker and since my ball speed is slower...(around 15mph) it can work on almost any of the conditions depending on where I stand...

Let's see what do I throw now? Razyr, Unfair, Black Widow Solid, Virtual Gravity, Venom, Mars, Up-Rising, Rogue Cell, Hy-Road, Resurgence, Total Inferno, Hot Sauce, and Black Widow Clear. Then I have other stuff that needs to be plugged and redrilled. Blast Zone, Icon, High Rev, Vapor Zone, Quantum Helix, and a brand new never drilled original The One. And then there is an old Johnny Petraglia LT-48 at work I was thinking of picking up to use as my two handed ball. Averaged between 200 and 210 with it last night practicing, lol.

As of right now, I plan to bowl two leagues this season plus tournaments. Monday is 4 man handicap, Tuesday is scratch singles, rotating patterns very 6 weeks.

I'm actually trimming down the arsenal a bit. I would like to head into the season with 9 or 10 balls in the active rotation plus a few in the closet that I can't bring myself to sell.

Solids
Virtual Gravity 40 X 4.25 X 60 (360 abralon/500/gold pad)
Maxx Zone 45 X 2.5 X 30 (green pad)
Solaris Requiem 45 X 4.5 X 30 (green pad)
LevRG 55 X 4 X 35 (360 abralon/500/4000)
Solid LevRG 55 X 5 X 60 (3000 trizact)

I'm pretty happy with this group. For longer/heavier patterns the Maxx and Reqiuem are a good combo. The Maxx rolls early and arcs and Requiem is very angular for a oiler. After some surface work my VG is a nice step down from the Requiem. The Solid is a right down the middle medium oil ball, with the surface I have on it it needs friction to turn but it doesn't overract. The LevRG is the bastard child of the group, no real place to play right now.

Pearls
Chalk 60 X 4.5 X 40 (360 abralon/500/polish)
Second Dimension 45 X 4.5 X 30 (360 abralon/500/polish)
Solaris 52 X 4 X 30 (double thumb) (360 abralon/500/polish)
Avalance Slide 45 X 4.5 X 30 (box finish)

Nice mix of shapes here but slightly unbalanced. The Chalk is a skid flip monster, I've found it can handle some oil with surface but I'm keeping it polished for now. I won the 2D at the end of last season. I've been playing with it all summer but I'm not really matching up with it yet. I should have traded it for a Hyroad like I was supposed to. The Solaris is arcing ball of the group. Strange thing is it's supposed to be fairly angular but I guess with my surface and layout it smoothed out. The Slide is the only weak pearl here, thus the unbalance comment above.

Hybrid
Virtual Energy 40 X 4.25 X 60 (360 abralon/500/polish)
Just drilled this one up so I can't really review it yet. So far so good. I loved my ultra zone so this ball has a lot of live up to in the hyrbid slot.

Semi Retired
Weapon Mass Bias 70 X 3 3/8 X 60
Awesome Revs 70 X 3 3/8 X 60
Arcon 90 X 1.5 X 30
Ultimate Inferno 40 X 4.5 X 90
Slate Blue Gargoyle 60 X 3 X 35

Here are the odd balls. Solid particle and particle pearls are hard to come so so I'll keep the first two until they crack lol. The Arcon and UI are "special drills" (pin near axis & modified rico) so they have a place in the closet. Both are tremendous on the right condition. I just don't carry them every where. The Gargoyle is a urethane pearl. Great on short and drier patterns.

Lineup
Monday nights I usually bring 4 plus a spare to for league. Right now I predict
1. Requiem 360 abralon/500/gold pad
2. Maxx 360 abralon/500/gold pad
3. Virtual Energy 360 abralon/500/polish
4. Chalk 360 abralon/500/polish

i like the nomad, probably due to lime green being my favorite color. i wish hammer would do a lime green and black ball, i would buy it in a minute reguardless if i needed it. maybe they could do a lime green and black jigsaw pearl!!!! that would be the sh*t!!!!!

Glad I am not the only one all Hammer, I would have felt weird otherwise.

Ebo Maxim Captain Midnight (that is cracked to hell, but until the finger grips fall out I am not replacing it :D )

Hammer E-Vibe 3" pin drilled for smoother-arc w/ a huge hole in the side, the pin is over the bridge and CG kicked out @ 45 degrees. (essentually 3rd game, Friday night 5 man team ball) 4000 polished

Hammer Burn 4" pin drilled the same as E-vibe and LOVES friction without over reacting, much stronger than the E-Vibe. Cracked the OOB surface, still 4000 polished

Hammer Black Widow 5" pin, cg in palm, MB right next to the thumb, clean through the heads with a easy flip on the back. This ball has been drilled by 1 lefty and 3 righties, has over 800+ games on it and still snaps corners like it's new. 2000 sanded.

Hammer Black Widow Bite 3" pin above middle finger and a CG kicked out @ 45 degrees and the MB is about 2" from thumb. Extremely large weight hole. Really early and archy, continuous though. 4000 sanded

Hammer Acid 2.5" pin under bridge with CG @ 45 degrees and a hole in the side. Really clean through the heads and archy. 4000 sanded

Hammer No Mercy 4" pin, 2nd drill.. just told my driller to drill it as strong as possible. MB is on the 2nd track flare and the ball just is snappy. Can't use it on a THS unless I play 5th arrow. 4000 sanded

So my lineup for league will end up being: Maxim, Burn, E-Vibe, a new Sting (drilled like my Black Widow Solid), and a pin up Acid I will be getting soon. Only need 5 balls, lanes are really predictable when they break down.
