It may just be coincidence but I have had wierd ball reactions during bad weather.

If its sunny outside/dry warm weather the oil will not only soak into the lanes, the ball and be carried down the lanes to the pins, pin deck, and ball return but it also evaporates. If it raining the oil will not evaporate thus you have wetter shot then if it was warm and dry...I'm not going into explaining the weather, but yes, weather can effect the lanes

I have been told that it depends on what type of lanes you bowl on. If you're bowling on wood lanes, the humidity definitely affects the oil on the lanes. When it's raining or cold, the lanes tend to absorb less oil than when it's dry out. The amount of oil on the lanes is what's affecting the ball reaction. I haven't heard too much about synthetic lanes. I'm sure they wouldn't be as sensitive as wood lanes are....

I don't know about weird reactions, but I think it allows the oil to stick around longer because it won't evaporate as quickly.
Today it's pouring rain here, so when I practiced, I was pleased to be able to play my normal line, which is rare at my house because they don't oil until just before the league tonight.

What do you mean when you say "weird" reaction? That's a pretty vague word to use.
Did you look at the thread that shows oil patterns and how the oil breaks down after various amounts of games?
I think when you have a lot of humidity, less oil evaporates, so more oil probably gets carried down to the back ends and doesn't dry up as quickly.
Is the weird reaction possibly that your ball kind of dies out on the back ends?

I think the oil carry down different. The absorbation of the oil to the ball. Oil probably is more slick because of the humid air... water. Personally I think the oil moves side to also, especially if someone use a plastic ball.
I just looked at the site. I was just stating it effect the Brusnwick Syn's I bowl on in the Summer quite a bit.

I don't think that humidity can possibly change the physical properties of the oil, since oil and water don't mix. However, it would make it seem like more oil since the oil wouldn't be evaporated by the air as much and more of it would get carried down.
Thus, the backends would be more oily IMO.

Even though they don't mix, oil and water is still slick... you have two properties that are slick.

Well, if you have actual water forming on your lanes, then your house has some serious issues.
