A big Congrats to this woman.

Friday, 07/31/2009
ARLINGTON, Texas - At age 81, Ollie Harbin, of Lee's Summit, Mo., became the oldest woman to roll a 300 game July 8 in the Summer Series Mixer League at AMF West Lanes in Overland Park, Kan.

Harbin, who also had a 300 game at age 77 in 2005, moved past Shirlee VanDenBurg who rolled 300 at age 80 in Battle Creek, Mich., last November. Another Lee's Summit bowler, Lois Morgan, held the record before VanDenBurg with a 300 at age 79 in 2004.

"I was just relaxed," she said. "Sometimes I get nervous but I didn't this time. I didn't even think about it until the last shot."

Harbin, who was using a Hammer ball, is featured in the Faces in the Crowd section of the Aug. 3 issue of Sports Illustrated magazine.

Great stuff - good on her.

Out of interest, at what age did the oldest bloke roll one?

300 games, consecutive by oldest person
76 years old Bill Bunetta, Fresno, Calif., Oct. 25, 1995

This is what I came up with from Bowl.com under stats and oddities

I think that record is the oldest person to bowl two 300's in a row.

After a short google session, the answer I keep coming up with is Joe Dean of Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 87.

It may look like one but it isn't a Vapor Zone. Hammer knows what ball she used and they are trying to contact her.

That pic could just be a promo shot with her holding a ball the photographer thought looked best for the shot, not necessarily the ball she used to bowl her latest 300 game.

i just dont think old people would polish up a ball, when they need all the help they can!:D :D :D :p

unless the NM looks pretty polished it??

Dave34

In the video its a Venom. No idea about the pic, isnt clear enough to see, but looks like a Hot Sauce Pearl or a Vapor Zone.

Around when the ball gets half way down the lane I can see some color swirl (around 20 seconds into the video).

i was at a local center a few months ago and saw an older woman roll a 243, and then back it up with a 260... i went straight over and shook her hand :)

The video looked like a Venom for sure. In the picture, she probably was given some ball to take it with because it "looks better" :p

You guys are focusing on the wrong thing. Who cares what kind of ball it is? Go back and watch the video and listen to what she says about her footwork. That was priceless advice and she gave it up for free.

In the pic, the ball she is holding is a Storm Serge (spelling?). I took the pic to 400% and could see the Storm logo on the side. The letters "rg" are also visible.

On a different note, this seems to be the year of the "oldster" Tom Watson in golf, Mark Martin in Nascar, Ollie. Gives hope to all us old guys

(After doing a little more checking, I think the bal is a Storm Charge)

Seniors Rule!!!
