First of all, I don't understand much about pin length and top weight.
Can someone explain it and the importance of it when ordering a ball?
I would really appreciate it!
**** I realize that my pro can order appropriately, but I just want to understand the terminology.

Just to keep it simple, top weight is put into all balls in the area where your holes will be drilled so that after drilling you are legal.
Pin distance, is the distance the pin is to the cg of the ball. This is used to create various ball reactions that you hear about.

I have always been told that top weight doesn't make that much of a difference on a bowling ball, since the pro can drill accordingly. However, the pin is a different story. Pin distance allows your pro to drill the ball in a variety of ways. The further out the pin, the more drilling set-ups it lends itself to. When you see the term pro pin, that usually means a pin further out than 4 inches. I have one pro pin ball that is almost 6 inches out. Now, most pro shops will tell ya that a pin of 2-3 inches is the best way to go and the easiest to drill.

Thanks guys!
While I was waiting for a response, I looked it up and found the information on Ebonite's web site.
I appreciate the responses!
