ok lets start it off, i'm a right hadned bowler i usualy throw around 15mph and my revs used to be fairly high. but i hated bowling like that it started to casue wrist pain and what not so about three weeks ago i went to a local bowing clinic, for farts and fun:D. any way i got to work with a silver level coach. he taught me to come from behind the ball instead of around the ball like i was. this lowered my revs dramatically and i found my self playing th 6-7-8 boards i usualt find the pocket no problem and i carry 213avg. but evry now and then when my ball comes back i have a weird track on the ball on the opisite side of the thum hole. i dont see any change in my ball motion and i still strike. just curios

by the way this happens to both my sting and pearl i haven't noticed it on the venom yet

I do not think it is flaring on the opposite side of the ball unless it is reverse flaring which doesn't sound like that. It might be picking up some oil on the surface of the ball when the ball is being returned from the pit back in the return.

One question I have is how many flare rings are on the opposite side of the thumb and how is the ball drilled in reference to pin to pap placement?

you could be developing a full roller release.

I actually have a very similar issue...What happened with me was that I was laying my first track either over the thumb hole or slightly to the opposite side of the thumb hole....

could a change in your axis tilt by moving the hand more behind the ball, fingers coming out at a 5:30 to 6:00 position for me, be causing this to happen

weird for me...

Another thing that can cause what your seeing is the pin position in relation to the up measurement of your pap.

Lets say your up measurement was 1/2" and you had a pin down layout. Now after making changes in your release the up measurement is now 1 1/2" This could now put the pin below that mark and cause irregular flare/track.
