we have had the question of whats more important to you or what do you appreciate more ? here is my question IF or when or if you have already shot a 300 game and or a 800 series would you spend the money on a 300 game ring ? or on a 800 series ring ? or would you buy a ring for both or neither one ????

I would probably get one for my first 300 and first 800 but that would be it.They should give everybody there first one of each like they use to.

I have one of each already. Uh, If I do shoot 300 and 800 again in league I would buy them again.

You only buy one ring for a 300. Every one after that you get a diamond added to the ring. Or did the USBC change this one when I was napping yesterday???

Rowdy, I think your thinking of the sport 300 gold rings that you can get diamonds for each successive 300 game. On the 300 and 800 multi-top rings you can have a new "top" put on the rings that show the number of times you've shot either 300 or 800. check out www.keepsakebowling.com and you'll see what i mean.

I thought they gave you the cheap one but if you wanted to you could upgrade.. Dang I must have been wrong.

I have a 300 ring and a plaque from ABC Have not rolled one since I been back threw 10 one night and hit high left a 7 pin for a 289.

I would buy a 800
I don't think I would get a USBC 300 ring. IMO the ABC rings looked better anyway.

I think that depends on if you buy THAT ring.. Looking at the awards page there are a couple different rings you can get. (last time I looked)

IIRC, I believe they changed the rule on the multiple 300 games.

The local bowling association here had stated that the rule was that if you now bowled a 300, whichever ring you get, that will be the only one you will get for the lifetime of your bowling career. I'm looking this up in the USBC rulebook to see if this is true, but this is what I only heard (read: don't shoot the messenger).

However, if you shoot multiple 300s in the same season, then you could pay to get the diamond studded ring, and that one is nice.

A friend of mine shot a 300 2 seasons ago. he spent the bucks to get the gold one. he spent over 500.00 I asked him the gold. he stated he didn't know if he would shoot another one. Last season, almost to the day, he shot another. Can you say "wasted money"

IF (a big IF) I ever get a 300 and/or 800 I would definitely by a ring for both. But considering I've been bowling for 40 years and never even come close to either, I don't think I'll ever have to make the choice.

You dont have to buy the rings. For your first 300 and 800 every season you get a ring, you dont have to pay for it. If you want gold, then you have to pay for the upgrade, otherwise its free. I have 2 that I dont wear, so probably would either get the plaque or donate the others.

Yay.

Called the USBC today, and found out that the 300 and 800 awards are one per fiscal year, not just one for your career. What I'm planning on doing is paying to upgrade to that multiple 300 gold ring, and giving the 300 ring they gave me to my mother.

i've also bowled both a 300 game (2), and an 800 series (3) and all are special to me.

i shot an 800 series first, being an 807 with a high game of 290 on 12/2/05.

my first 300 came on 9/28/07 along with an 826 Series...still the house high series...although it has been tied once.

my second 300 came on 2/09/09 of this year and also came with an 813 series.

with the first 800 I bought the gold ring. then when i shot my second 800 and first 300 my wife bought me the gold multitop 800 ring and gold 300 ring. now that i've shot my 2nd 300 and 3rd 800, I need to update my multitop 800 ring with the new top and update my 300 ring to the new multitop. just have to wait until finances are better, probably wait until this current season is over.

congrats on your 800 series, cherish it like the accomplishment that it is. it's why most of us bowl.
