Okay soo I have been struggling in league lately since they recently just changed the shot and it seemed like none of the balls I owned would work well in the transition period. I was using my Acid for game one, and my Razyr (@2000) for game three and was fine there. But the in the middle game my Acid would roll-out and my Razyr wasn't quite cutting it (:p).

So what I did was walk into my pro shop and mention to Rich Blake that I wanted something that would look like the even arc I get from the Razyr, but can handle more oil.

He suggested we drill up an Onyx Vibe, pin under the bridge with the CG kicked out @ about 45 degrees. There ended up being a double-thumb weight hole that was quite the crater.

Come league I try to throw the thing and it was crazy over-under for the condition. At first I thought Hammer had let me down, then I remembered my love for cracking the OOB surface of the ball. I took a shot in the dark and abralon'd the ball to 2000 (one of my favorite surfaces) and Holy Hell the ball woke up for me. It now gives me the exact reaction I am looking for. Early read in the midlane and smoooooooooth arc on the back.

I asked a friend who owned a pin up Onyx and asked him if he had to change the surface, he had it at 1000 w/ polish.

Anyone else have to change the surface to see the desired results?

Note: My ball driller told me from the get-go that I would probably need to change the surface, so there was no dissappointment or bad-blood there. I just wanted to try it OOB first.

Mine is still at OOB with a very light coat of polish.

I have my Onyx OOB and it works perfectly for me on medium to medium high oil.

My Onyx startedto appear that is was an over/under condition and was squirty. I did the surface adjustment to 2000 and got the reqction I was looking for. It now give me a strong midlane read and an agsressive arc through the Pin deck.

BubbaRay; 2000 with or without Polish? I'm interested in trying the same. I loved the ball but lately has been over under.
