Had the first nine and tossed the 10th just fine and then I did somthing I never hardly ever do !I let my nerves get me I think. - go up for # 11 and well plain and simple I blew the shot started to lose it of my thumb. Well I tried to chase it and tugged it big time !
Those of you who have bowled a 300 and those that have been close know the feeling its what u live for in bowling IMHO the chance to be dead solid perfect I wouldn't take anything for the feeling but man o man I wish I had that ball back.
O well it was a good game and decent series 702 I just kept telling myself to just make a good easy shot and tonight for that frame I didn't it wasn't bad luck I just made a bad shot I think because a nerves.
But I did learn a few things like I have everytime I have a big game # 1 is just do it and quit thinking. It was a great feeling just to be in the posisition to roll a perfect game.

Congrats on the great game pipes. It happens to everyone. The nerves start in the 10 frame. Nothing to be ashamed of and your 300 game is just around the corner. Congrats again.

Nice game Pipes. Best advice I can give you is take deep breaths and calm yourself down, put yourself in a different place in your mind and dont think about the shot, let the muscle memory do it for you, you just threw 10 or 11 perfect before that, so your body knows what its gonna do, pick your mark and throw the ball. Tommy Jones does the deep breath method and thats where I got it from, ever since I started doing it, the shaking goes away and I've been perfect since(5 for my last 5), 2 299's in between were a flush 9 pin and a 7 where the messenger missed it.
Give it a try, we've all been there before. Chalk it up to experience and you'll be more prepared next time.

The first time I had 9 in a row to start a game was about 1 month ago. I wasn't nervous but when I let go of the ball I was too worried about tugging it and left a light 7 pin. So kinda the opposite of you pipes. Then I finished with a strike and started the next game with 4 in a row. So maybe I was a bit nervous, but it didn't feel like it. Just didn't get aggresive enough. oh well, put in the memory bank for next time, hopefully. Good shootin man.

Keep it up... You'll get it soon... You having all of those just means that the 300 is right around the corner. The 11th one has always been the hardest one for me.

Don't fret over it, pipes. You bowled a killer game.
I was told in Collegiates by our coach (Bill Straub), that when bowing a 300, the 10th strike is always the hardest. Without the 10th, you couldn't get the 11th or 12th. Obviously, everyone coming down to watch you doesn't help things, but also keep in mind that this is your game.
Idle has a great point. Take as much time as you need, and if need be, give yourself something to distract you; not take you off your game totally, but something else to focus on to take your nerves out of it. Memory and your natural game will handle the rest.
The first 300 I bowled, I took my time in the 10th, 11th, and 12th. Rolled the 10th, then left the lane for about half a minute to walk it off and get the nerves out of my head. Rolled the 11th, and did the same thing. Local TV then at that time interrupted the show that was on for a tornado warning. I watched that, laughed at those outside playing beach volleyball in the weather, came back in, and rolled the 12th.
Someone in my league just this past Wednesday took over high game in the league (previously held by me) with a 300. I had 289. He actually threw 22 straight, and only 4 frames were not strikes (all were 9 counts; 3 4pins and a 10-pin. We gave him hell for missing that 10pin! :D ) 300-278-257=835.

It was a 285 I had 10 in a row and then just simply tugged the 11th bad :oI never noticed everone was watching I was like in a trance or some dang thing I didn't know they wereall behind me until I missed and turrned around. Then I realized the place was dead quiet and no one was bowling in the whole house . On a side note we have a pile of 279 games in this league but so far I am hi game for the first half with a few weeks to go and I think its worth $250.00 if it stands up :O)
