O.K., I know about drier lane conditions, but tonight was a little extreme. We bowled our late league after an adult/youth tourney, then an early league, so our lanes were cooked. Just to say how dry they were, I was using my Tuff (yes, the plastic spare ball) standing at 26, throwing at 15, out to 6 and buring it in the pocket. Yah, the pin on the ball is opposite of my grips and wasn't made to hook. I know you can hook any ball, but this is extreme....Turn off the timer, cause the lanes are done, well done that is LOL!!!!!

Ouch.. atleast you still has something Tuff enough! Couldn't resist. I've resorted to my White Dot several times. Ran 5 in a row with it.

I feel your pain. I spoke with my guru this afternoon about getting a Vibe to deal with the superdries that I face now and then. He said when lanes are as dry as I described that Vibe would be too much ball too. He said I need to not be affraid of throwing the ball into gutter on right to learn to look for playable areas.

Yesterday I moved all the way to ball return but I was not trying to get to break point at 8 board or right, but rather, I had my ball breaking at 15-10. That area was overreacting. If I could have gotten ball further right perhaps I would have found ball hitting pocket instead of brooklyn or 4 pin.

I am thinking of getting a pearlized ball drilled to go really long that I can go to when lanes get too dry. Any suggestions?

I would gladly switch you houses... we get lucky to have oil for one game sometimes one and a half games before it really breaks down to the point that by the third game we are bowling on dry lanes and tonight the lanes were as bad as he said... I had to pull out my tropical storm and throw straight down in between the first and second arrow and still going brooklyn!!!

I tell ya i work at a bowling alley down here in Martinsville, Virginia...lol lemme tell you about dry...Sunday is the worst day for dry we dont oil the lanes over the weekend at all...i can pull my big blue spare out and throw it about 3rd arrow on the left side swing to about 5 and it will go brooklyn 95 percent of the time...lol THAT IS DRY.....lol but when we got oil its the best house there is :) anyhow id love to move to where there are some synthetic lanes close to me...wood sucks lol....:D

Bowled a 20 game tourny yesterday. We bowled 10 games with one pattern then a break for lunch then another 10 games on a different pattern. The second half we had 6 or 7 guys on a pair instead of 3 or 4 by the 4th or 5th game of the second set this guy on our pair was using a Tuff from the 4th arrow out to the channel. It turned out the best move was to go inside around the 4th arrow and to point it straight at the pocket and take some hand out of the ball. It worked pretty good. But man those lanes were as dry as I've ever seen.

All that bowling without at least a re-app? I know they would be sloppy, but at least your ball wouldn't catch fire before hitting the deck. The proprietor of the lanes should know a re-app won't take too long (should of been done before the early league), to strip the back ends every night, and that he may be liable for ball damage (lack of conditioner=higher probability of ball damage). Good luck in the desert!

yea our house is wood lanes... there are some synth lanes at a house about half an hour from us. they had a adult youth tourney yeasterday, than early sunday league before we bowled our late league... there were already 12 games on those lanes when we started... I think if they are gonna do a tourney on a day where there are leagues they should run the oil machine inbetween the tourney and the league.

No, they stripped and put down a completly different pattern for the second 10 games. But because the second pattern was differnent in the middle and the added bowlers on a pair they dried up REALLY quick.
