OK so I Just threw my first 300 game tonight! I was using my Hawgzilla with factory finish on wood lanes with a 42 foot sport shot. I'm stoked because up till two weeks ago my high game was 259, last week I broke it with a 273 (picking up the 6 spare in the 8th, and getting a 7 count in the 12th).

So it's crazy to nail all 12 the first time your seriously knocking at the 300 door. I threw 7 solid strikes, got a lucky light hit in the 8th then in the 9th trough 12th, I just remembered what some one (sorry I can't remember who but if you read this please reply because you are my favorite poster!) posted on this forum about taking an extra deep breath before executing your approach. Damn did it work! The last four where dead flush. The ball helped, but this advice was priceless.

Very nice bowling can-ham! I agree, lots of great advice on this forum, from bowlers just like us...I think that's what makes it work so well. When I first saw the title of your thread, I thought it was another porn site! :eek: Now that the first 300 is out of your system, I'm sure there are more to come. Great bowling!!! :D

Hey man, congratulations!! I am still lookin to break a 700 and a 300, I have come 40 pins away from 300 and 15 pins away from 700(but I am usually around 650 most nights..) I think a deep breath before every ball will help relax you, big time.. I am gonna have to start trying that more, sometimes I rush and I need to just slow it down.. Great job and hopefully another one comes soon!!

Congrats on the 300. Feels good to get the first one out of the way, don't it. Shot my second 300 with Hammer, been a Hammerhead ever since. Glad you did it with the Zilla. Just picked up the Hawg Wild. Hope I can match your accomplishment. Again Great Shooting!!!!

BlackWidow95 your 700 will come. Just like his 300 did, maybe even the same night. Was just hoping not to have a big choke when my first 700 was evident. Had 244, 289(middle 10) and 224 for 757.

Best advice is just dont let things get to you. Remember it not like you are going for anything but a strike.

Oh yeah and take a deep breath. It will happen when it happens. Had the front nine in tournment, pocket 10-spared and pocket 7... last two shots where identical. I really thought it was going to be my time.

On my 1st 300, I had 11 in a row. On my 12th shot, all I could think about was "Please God, don't let me throw this one in the gutter" ;) . Hung the thumb on the release and pulled the ball 3-4 boards left of my mark. Hung in the oil long enough to hit the pocket high for a pretty ugly X.

On my 2nd, at 8 strikes, I tried to just relax and see where this game would go. Got away with a light hit in the 10 and flushed the final two. Almost looked like I knew what I was doing.

Watched a guy roll a 300 in our league the other nite. Did it with a borrowed ball and house shoes, go figure.

So I had one other thing that often helps me bowl, I usually get a song in my head. This helps me think less and just execute. When I'm bowling bad it will be something to psych me up like "C'mom C'mon" by the Von Bondies.

During the three hundred game I had a slow song in my head. It really helped keep the tempo down and I didn't "get fast" in the during the last 4 strikes (a place I've never been before). In case your wandering, the song was "Mad World" by Gary Jules.

Hummm...I've never tried a song for bowling. I usually have a key phrase just before I start my approach..."Just lay it out there". It reminds me to take it easy and let the ball do the work. Now golf, I do have a song or two to help me with my tempo. The slower the better. Love "Mad World"....may have to use that when golf league starts.
