Giday from Australia-have a problem with my Blade-with a chunk coming from the finger insert-the lane mechanic told me it was not from lane or back machinery damage but from ball stress or fatigue. the ball is 3years old & used for approx 450 games. I thought for $300 Au it would last me a lot longer than this. I bowl on wooden floors. is the mechanic correct? I thought Hammer balls were made to last! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

You can see stress cracks developing around the finger holes or the bridge cracking from the stress of drilling. If you got 3 years out of the ball before develipong stress cracks you are doing pretty good.

Most of the time stress cracks are caused by not putting enough bevel on the finger holes even with inserts. Some times the cracks develop because of the heat generated by the drill bit if the bit isn't sharp. Another suspected cause is the chemical reaction between the coverstock and the super glue.

I've heard the same thing about superglue from my pro. He uses very little of it to hold the grips in. I never repair them myself...too scared...lol! Sorry about your Blade, but look on the bright side...now you can upgrade! :D

hey,,,
are you a stroker or a cranker.....of you are a cranker with a short span your gettin that because you have to much lift into the ball....(not necessary a bad thing) me and a friend of mind both have a doom and both have cranks and splits around the fingers because we have a hole hell of alot of lift on the ball......

the thing is i can go alot longer with a span.....(4-7/8)
but why when i'm comfortable right where i'm at(4-5/8)
now i might go longer if i am constantly buying new balls...but i won't do that until the hole ball has a big whole in it at the fingers.......but til then i will still be using it.....

for you i would suggest to look for a aball that is softer(gives it more durablity)
