What a night at the lanes last night.

Game 1- my first clean game of the season 221
Game 2- one open and one split for a 202

Now comes the jinx... "Hey you know you only need a 180 or so for a 600"

Game 3- 155. I wanted to get on the PA system and annouce that my spare game as left the building. I left 3 easy two pin spares and chopped one pin off all three times!

Overall I'm bummed a little but my spare game is improving. Has anyone tried the Triax spare system? I started learning it last week and it's working for me already.

Triax...hummm...that sounds familiar. I think I've seen it on a website before, but can't remember. If you know right off hand, please shoot me the URL. Spare shooting is so important. That's why I bought a Tuff for the 10 and 6-10 (for everything else I use my strike ball). Don't get too discouraged. The spares will come with practice. You may have jinxed yourself by saying you only need 180 to get your 600. I've done that several times this year. I start thinking more about the end result and stop concentrating on the moment. Gets me every time.:(

Nice beginnings. Sorry about the 3rd game blues. Seems like 3rd game is a total different entity than the two before. My third games are either 20 pins higher or 20 pins lower than my other games.

I think a lot of us use our strike ball for most spares. The ball is going to be affected a little bit by transitions on lanes too. Knowing this I still use strike ball for everything other than 10 pin. But, I know that I am going to miss a 7 pin or 4 pin everyonce in a while and chop off a two pin spare every now and again.

The transition in bowling lane conditions is what I believe makes bowling so tough. The shot that got you 7 strikes in a row in game one might not be there in game 2. And, almost assuredly is not going to be there in game 3.

I've always thrown straight at most spares. As a kid I learned to roll the bowl straight as an arrow. My problem has been knowing where to line up. I'm getting better at that.
