I am just going to come out and say it. I love my No Mercy and I love my Hawgzilla. Unfortunately I don't really care for my Black Widow, I mean I have had success with it but, I just don't really like it. As for my Toxic, well I read this forum almost everyday ( I don't have a whole lot to do while I'm here at work.) Alot of people who have the Toxic bring it out when the lanes break down. I really don't understand this I got mine drilled to go long then I had a balance hole drilled so it would relax a little on the back end then I hit it with some extra polish and I still can not stop this ball from hooking out of the house.
I thought that dull surface caused more friction so it rolls early and hooks thru oil.
Now the surface on the Toxic I thought was supposed to go long but, it really doesn't.
Now I trust my driller the man is a genius with a bowling ball so, am I doing something wrong with this ball or what?

I actually didn't come into the Hammer brand until just recently, but I currently roll the Road Hawg, Black Widow, and Toxic (in that order). My Toxic isn't uncommon from what I've seen in my leagues... pin is over directly over the bridge, and CG is kicked out about an inch from the grip center line. It's what my driller describes as a "lay-up" shot. I roll it down and in, off the 8 board. On league nights, my house tends to put a lot of conditioner on the lane, so I let the RH soak up some of that oil before I move to the Widow. I use the Toxic as a last game ball because for the most part my Toxic would just slip and slide it's way to a four count playing the line I described in either the first or second game. It works great when the lanes start to dry up, but patches of oil are my ball's worst enemy. I've never considered moving in, but should I? I was also considering changing the surface to give it more bite, but for now I like the way it's rolling as an "if all else fails" kind of ball. I consider myself a "tweener" with medium ball speed, medium revs. Oh, and by the way, I play the inside line for the other two balls.

I know I answered a question with a question, but if I had to diagnose your situation, I would say more than likely it's just that you put more revs on it than the average bear. If it's working for you as an oil ball, great... I think that's what Hammer claims it to be. But with it's pearl finish, I personally can't get it to do much of anything but roll straight.

Sorry for the dissertation. I'll shut up now.

I also have way too much time on my hands at work ;) .... There must be huge variety in the conditions we hammerheads face. What is fresh oil at my house is probably medium or light at other houses. I do not think I would have any use for Hawgzilla since I understand that it is heavy oil ball. My New Mercy is probably more ball than I need, too.

I agree with you that Toxic is medium oil ball and works under same conditions as my Black Widow. I am playing with coverstock and added a balance hole to Toxic and think I am taming it a bit so that it will fit into place behind BW.

My pro drilled my balls perfectly. My Widow is used for the first game and a half and my Toxic is the next ball. He drilled the Toxic so I can play the exact line that I play with my Widow. Whatever he did with it, it is perfecto.:D

In trying to build a tournament arsenal I'm having a hard time avoiding overlap...

If you take a quick glance at Hammer's techinal spec chart the BW and TOXIC are very close. At 15 lbs only the diff is different.

With a similar drillings it's safe to they will cover the same amount of area albeit with a different shape. If your BW and Toxic are too similar you might need to play with the coverstock on one of them.

To be honest I think a Doom might be better under a BW. When I got my Toxic I had no plans of buying a Widow but that changed quickly. (I'm slowing turning into a ball hog)

I had my pro drill my BW totally different from my Toxic. My widow is drilled strong and my Toxic is drilled control. This gives them a very similar, arcing shape with the Toxic covering less boards. It's a great 1,2 combo.

Since it's too late to separate your equipment via drillings, try altering the covers. I'm a big advocate of chatting up your pro shop guy. Bounce some ideas off of him and I'm sure he'll recommend something none of us can think of.

Tonight was able to go from BW to Toxic very smoothly. Just as in master plan. Was bowling in my new Men's League. For those who are counting, yes 4th league. Anyway, 10 guys on the lanes so lanes break down pretty fast. Utilizing switch at beginning of 3rd game to Toxic I was actually able to move right when I brought out Toxic! 202, 214, 245 ---> 661!

To accomplish my move right I was bowling in Stroker style. Silent hand throwing 23 ---> area of 10-12 at arrows. My point is that I am beginning to dial in the arsenal. Can go stronger with NM or weaker now with Toxic.
