I'm a lefty, I guess I would be considered, what you call a "stroker" I throw the ball with medium speed, very little hand, and have a good, predictable, and very safe, slow steady arch to the pocket, I can throw the big hook, but its alot harder to control and alot more unpredictable, according to lane conditions. My shot now is from the second arrow, the ball goes long, then makes a steady strong arch to the pocket, its not what I would consider a skid flip, its much smoother and arching then a skid flip. My question is, what would be a good ball, and a good drilling, to keep that basic type of shot, but be able to up the revs, and make a bigger hook if i need to ? I'm pretty sure the CG should be center palm, thats how my Columbia Vector 2 was drilled, and it would let me throw anywhere, anyway I wanted to, just by moving, and adjusting the revs, I don't know how that ball was drilled, but I know the CG pin is in the center of the palm, I love the way that ball works, but its 20 years old, and I need to upgrade, to better cover technology, and core technology. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

For a stroker:

I recommend pin placed under and between fingers like the all purpose drilling for the Black Widow (drilling #2). If you want particle ball I recommend the BW and if you want pearlized ball I would recommend the Toxic drilled the same way. I have CG out 45 degrees to the right (I am a righty), but I do not think that is as important as where the Pin is. I would also recommend a 3-4 inch pin.

Everyone here will recommend a diifferent ball. Depending on what they use. Read the specs and do what you want.

Pretty sure the Black Widow is not Particle. The last particle Hammer was the Hawg, maybe the Hawg Wild.

The Black Widow is not a particle ball I think the last particle made by Hammer was the blue Hammer Hawg. The BW is reactive just like the No Mercy but different weight blocks

Looks to be a newer version of the coverstock.
Violent Reative(BW) vs. Violent Response Reactive (NM)

Oops. My bad.:o What is reactive made of? For that matter what is pearlized made of?

So, both BW and Toxic are Reactive Resin? How come they look so different? I thought "pearlized" made some difference. Help me out somebody.

im not quite sure the def between pearl and solid, cus its the surface of the ball that changes the reaction. ive had pearl balls that out hook solid balls that are supposed to"hook a ton". my toxic out hooks my no mercy on the backend....how bout this mindbuster my black widow is actually cleaner through the heads then my doom..surfaces are both 4000 polished i still havent figured out why. anyway. i would also suggest the pin under ring with cg slightly kicked, should give you a nice strong but controllable reaction

Both the BW and NM are 4000 grit abralon sanded. The Toxic is a pearl reactive polished. The Doom is a reactive polished.

Pearlized basically means the ball will slide through drier heads and save its energy for the back end. This is very useful when the lanes are in transition. The BW is a sanded finish, and the Toxic is a reactive pearl polish. That is why they look so different. The Toxic is more suited to break down conditions than the BW.....
