I bowled my first 600 series last night - 603. And, I used the Black Widwow for all three games! Although it was exciting, it wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be because of the following:
a) I missed 2 ten pins in my last game.
b) In the tenth frame of the last game, my fingers swelled and I failed to use more ez slide. The ball stuck to my fingers, and I ended up missing the 4 pin, trying to pick up the 4-7 spare.
I really hated ended the night with the BW sticking to my fingers. I couldn't help thinking about the fact that I could have had a 635 series, instead of the 603. However, we did end up taking all 3 games (but it was close).
I'd like to thank all of my fellow HammerHeads for all of the advice (and encouragement) that I've received from this great forum.
You guys are awesome - REALLY!

Congrats on your series man, I understand what you said, about sticking and all, but look at it this way... you have crossed over the top of that hill, there is no longer a mental challenge there, easier to do from now on. I wouldn't expect it week in and week out, but still, it will be easier next time.

Congrats, but I totally understand what you mean. A good series where you finish strong is much more satisfying than one where you stumble out of the last game.

great job, glad you like the BW. sucks that your last toss was a sticker. since my first 600 I have felt that my game has gone to a new level and it has. I expect myself to at least roll a high 500 now and I do. I have crossed 600 6 times since I got my first one just 2 months ago, they are low 600's but they are still very nice to have, its better when you're scores are close and consistant to each-other as well. i would much rather roll 3 low 200 games than one big game then choke then a mediocre 3rd. anyway, great job!!!

I totally agree: I like it better when my games are consistent.
1st game: 213, 2nd game: 214 3rd game: 176

Hey, it's your first one, so enjoy it and learn from your mistakes. The last thing you need to be is too hard on yourself.
Just take something away from the experience.
An example for me was last week, in the early league (I was subbing)....
I was on a turkey heading into the 10th frame. A lady two lanes to the right fell down as I was making my approach. Instead of stopping myself, I allowed myself to be distracted and I threw a f'ing gutter ball.
Later in the evening (second shift - my league), I got distracted by something on the approach (I just didn't feel right), so I stopped myself halfway through and started my routine all over.
Guess what? I threw a perfect strike and finished strong.

Great job!! The first one always seems like the hardest. Now that the dam has broke, they should come more often.
Don't put pressure on yourself to get a 6 every time. Just throw that next quality shot and the scores will be there. It's real easy to want to bear down and force a good shot. Seems like that's when I have a tendancy to hang the thumb
BTW, if your using EZ slide on your thumb, you might want to talk to your driller to see if your hand has changed.
