Hello, I am getting the Vibe today and there is no difference between the 2 balls (only color). This is according to my Pro Shop through the Distributor. Lots of Success. Bill

there is a big difference between the 2
the blue has a more aggressive coverstock and hooks pretty hard
the purple has a less agressive coverstock and is more tame.
both are good for dry lanes; however, best decided by your bowling style.
Personally, I like the blue better as I get a better mid-lane read and a more arcing shot to the pocket....Purple is a little to flippy to me and it's too sensitive to speed changes...

That is incorrect. Lightning is right about the two cover stocks, the blue is more geared towards a medium oiled lane and will produce a stronger hook vs the purple which is set for more of a dry lane.

If you look at Legend Star, you will see that you have it backwards. It shows a more aggressive line with the Purple. It shows the Purple a couple of boards inside the second arrow for the purple as opposed to right over the second arrow for the blue.

Dont think I'm going to trust that stie for bowling ball expectations.
They're different balls... not the same.

Lol, the Blue is more aggressive in my opinion.. Nobody that I know believes the Blue Vibe is for Dry Lanes, everyone around my house just thinks it is a strong ball that is meant for medium lane conditions..
The Blue Vibe is VERY strong..
I'm going to nit pick here. I think the BV is versatile ball that can be used on light to medium with the proper drilling and surface prep work.
I have a little experiment brewing now. This weekend I'm bowling a tourny in a wood house. I'm having my BV polished at the pro shop with Ebonite Extender polish and factory finish polish.
I'll report back with results.

Blah i dont own either and didnt research, if its backwards my bad, all i was trying to point out is that they are NOT the same ball as was originally stated.

That we can agree upon. I noticed that some pro shops don't even know the difference. Also, if you go to the Hammer site and look them up, you have to look closely at the description to notice the difference. The only difference is the cover stock.
If you look at the ledger star website (which shows an example line), I get the impression that the Purple Vibe would be better for a cranker, while a Blue Vibe would be better for a Stroker.
I'm kind of a Stroker/Tweener (more towards stroker) and I have the Blue and it is perfect for drier lanes for me.

I doubt the BW Pearl would be good for dry lanes unless you have a weaker hook than most.
The Pearl coverstock will be more of a skid/flip reaction, which just means that it will probably skid more on the front and snap more on the back ends. I would look at it like comparing the PAIN to the TOXIC.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the Pearl Widow will be more for medium lane conditions.

No problem. You may want to wait for some more replies though as I'm not a resident expert on bowling or Hammer, but I do own the Toxic, Pain and Vibe and am famliar with the Pearl reactive coverstock.

I am getting a new Hammer Blue Vibe today. From my research (Hammer web site) the difference between the 2 (Blue and Purple) is the coverstock (not just the color). Also from "Ask An Expert" (Hammer Website), it was explained to me the Blue Vibe has more of a arc hook, and the Purple Vibe has more of an angular hook. The manager of one of the local bowling alleys here where I live (who I am taking lessons from) suggested getting a ball that has more of an arc hook and that would be best for my game. Thus I am getting a Blue Vibe and am looking forward to it.

Good decision IMO. I think you'll like the Vibe and for the price, you can't beat it. BTW, I threw my longest string of strikes with my BV (8). I started a game a few weeks ago (late league - second shift - last game) with Strike, Spare, Strike, Split (Open), then closed it out with all strikes for a 248.
