View Full Version : Thinking about selling my Widow

I have been deliberating this since I bought this ball. I have had some good scores with it but, it really is hard to tame. I really want to give this ball a fair shake, but at this point I am not extremely happy with it. I think a Toxic would be more suitable for my game.
I still don't know yet but, at this point I am not that happy.

Is this a for sale ad or a just a "Help me decide" kind of thing? Either way, what weight is the widow? You righty or lefty?

I'm a lefty tweener with med-high revs. It's 15#. I love the pin action this thing delivers but the hook is insane. I find myself throwing a cranker shot more often than not with this ball. I have been having troubles with my release and I think this definately part of the problem as well.
This is not a "for sale" add yet, more of a please help me before I eat a good chunk of change if I do in fact sell it.
I may have to break down and buy a Robby's original or something similar to help with the release. Also, I have it at the OOB finish should I polish it to kill the hook a bit?
PLEAAAAAASE HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPP!!!!

Lots of different ways to throw. I have had my best success with BW using somehat passive hand meaning I do not "hit it" when I release. Ball still does what it needs to. One of my 300s I did easy quarter turn release with my hand the other I tried to stay quiet with my hand.
Quarter release -- thumb goes from 2:30 to Noon. Fingers from 6:00 to 3:00. Hand down like wants to pick up penny on the lane then flips off the pins.

actually I did put a couple of coats of wax on my BW...sense then I have moved to the Toxic, due to the extreme dry conditions we face...alley is medium oil, but opens doors when its warm til they get AC on....really dries things up fast.
I liked The BW waxed, I too suffered thru over drive on the BW. just depends on the lane conditions and what you are afraid and not afraid to do to your ball. But on the other the Toxic is nice addition and works well with the BW, its just the BW needs some oil.

Sounds good. Do I need to take it to my proshop to polish it if I don't have a spinner?

So after being inconsistant as hell for the past month with this ball, I have to say that this wee was my best week yet.
1st game - 2 opens: 193
2nd game - 2 opens : 209
3rd game - Knee acted up and my release was off: 157
Series: 559
The second game I should have had the front 7, but the first 3 did not carry the 8, 9, 7 respectively.
I am starting to get a track worn in the ball which helps as well as the consistant release. I also realized that I need to be in the 15-17 mph zone for this ball to be KILLER. All in all, I am pleased, for now.
