Well, I decided I am going to give it a go.. I told my proshop owner to give me a thumb slug.. I am really hope this helps with my release.. I have seen many posts where people say it does, how true is this?? And how long will it take me to get used to it??

it should give you a smoother release which then should give you more power.

I started using a slug a few weeks ago and I like it. I won't say it's a huge night and day type of change but my thumb is clearing the ball better.

I used thumb slugs for years and now I am having problems with my thumb swelling if I bowl more than 4 games...I am starting to bowl in a monthly tournament that has 4 qualifying games and them as much as much as 5 more if you win it. I am switching over to SWITCH GRIPS after bowling Tuesday night. I think I will like them. Steve

I use the smooth white oval thumb insert and love the fit & feel of it over a round hole.

I got my NV back today.. I didn't bowl with it though, because my toe.. But, I will say that my toe is feeling SOOOO much better and I will definately be able to bowl on Tuesday.. It sucks getting a new ball drilled up and not being able to throw it that day.

But, it feels like the Thumb Slug is more comfortable and I have a feeling that it may help me a little bit.. If I feel a difference on my release that helps me I will definately get one inserted in my Black Widow!!

I think I will try one. I thought they were for redrills, I did not realize they actually were preferred by people. Maybe I can ease my thumbvolcano problem. Back of my thumb looks like I got bit by my Black Widow.

I have a thumb slug in my BW, I like the fit and feel of it. I have also ordered Ron C's Magic Carpet for the thumb hole. It replaces 3 pieces of white tape (which I currently have 4 pieces) and allow a clean release. I was given a pice from a friend and I tried it on my Rage. WOW!!! I highly recommend spending the $20 for that product.

Take your ball to your Pro Shop and have them open your thumb hole up. You want your hole to be a tad big so you can place a piece of magic carpet behind the thumb and possibly a piece of white tape in the front.
