I am looking to get new shoes this summer and I figured this would be a good place to ask, Who makes the best shoes and what model?
Thanks Nate

I have Dynaroos Sport Ultra's Black and Burgundy. Those are some fine shoes. I like the slides and heels better than the SSTs by Dexter. I like the way they fit on the shoe and seem more "custom made" than the SSTs.
A step up from my shoes are the kangaroo leather ones. Those might be worth saving up for. After the bowling ball, and the shirt, its all about the shoes!:D

I have been a Linds man my entire bowling life. Tried Dexters once and hated them. Currently using the new Linds XXXtra 2's.

couldn't agree more, I have to buy new soles every 300-400 games or so, but these are the most comfortable I could imagine.

i bought a pair of sst5 at the beginning of this season, and they have almost fallen completely apart, i'd go with linds or dynos

Dexter SST 5 Sport. Very comfortable, very stable, interchangeable soles and heels. I like 'em. I also had an older pair of SST 5's that lasted me for years that I still have.
I'm a frugal shopper and bought a set of SST1s and it was the best money I've even spent!!!
PS. Hey can-ham... love your title mate!!!

I actually felt bad when I heard they where made for kangaroos, but once I found how conformable they where.

I'm also a frugal shopper. Learned it from my mom. She bought my Dexter SST 5 Sports on Ebay for a $49 plus s&h as a birthday present.
Even if they don't last as long as Dynaroos, I can buy three pairs of them to one.
They are not only comfortable, but stylish and stable. I like the ankles support the sports provide. They're almost a high-top.

Dynorooz or nothing. I've owned three pairs of Dexter, my pair right now are warranty replacements. Not holding up that great. Plus Ebonite just bought Dynothane! ;)

Just thing of the deal you could have gotten on the Dynorooz... Plus they look tons better. IMO.

Well I owned 2 pair of custom linds, and enjoyed them, but once I tried the SST 4's I loved em, now I use the SST 5's, and their the best. As for wear neither pair has broken down on me.

I've only worn Dexter's. I still have my very first pair, but stopped wearing them after the Dexter logo wore off.
My husband has worn both Dexter and Lind's: He loves them both.
Whatever you decide just make sure they're good performance shoes (not athletic bowling shoes).

I find most of the Dynaroos ugly. Plus, the SST 5 Sports are a semi high-top with a wide sole that provides me great stabilty and comfort.
I'm sure you can't go wrong either way.

Looks are all relative to the eye of the beholder. Was not trying to offend. I like the Dynothane, solid black ones best, the black and burgandys look decent enough... but I'd buy the S3002. Kangroo! ;) Had cheap shoe attribute to money lost in a tournament, range of 5 figures. Bought my first pair of SST5 with my winnings, never looked back.

GF: My Dynaroos may look ugly, but, I tell you I like them better than my SST5s. 2 pairs of SSTs in a row, the non-slide shoe wore out too fast. Iv'e only been bowling for 2 years and wore out a basic pair of Dexters (The Black ones), then SSTs (Blue suede ones) then SST5s.
On the SSTs and SST5s the rubber on the front separated from the sole at the toe area. It's perhaps the way I tend to Gumby with my back foot, but I blame the shoes.
Because of the separation issue on the non-slide I like the Dynaroos that have a replaceable toe cap. Although a little "ugly" they seem to be made better than the Dexters. IMO.
I do agree that the SST7s look great.

You must be really hard on shoes. I still have my original SST 5's from back in the mid 1990's that are perfectly fine. I don't know how you can wear out a non-slide shoe. I've never seen it happen before.
The only reason I got new SST 5 Sports was because I wanted an updated look and some ankle support. They are also more stable because they have a wider sole. I've been wearing them about twice a week around 12 games per since January and they haven't shown the slightest amount of wear (other than breaking in).
I keep shoe dogs in them and keep the covers on them while in my bag and when I go to the bathroom.

Do bowling shoes run a bit smaller than normal shoes? I have a pair that are the same size as my regular shoes and they are very tight.

I've always worn Dexters as long as I can remember. Right now I have a pair of Dexter Speed. They're pretty comfortable. I got them from BowlersParadise in Sacramento, California. They sell a little bit of everything there. Has anyone else ever ordered from them?

Between me and my wife since late 98 early 99... We have had 5 pair of Dexter's SST Series shoes.
Mine:
SST5 Non Slide shoe rubber was coming apart.
SST5 Leather ripping out, non slide issues again, lucky me got them replaced on warranty.
SST5 Comforts side velcro not holding up the best, leather had ripped out around lace eyes... probably could go on
Wife
SST Side leather came off.
SST4 just recently non slide shoe is coming apart.

She only bowls one league a week. Very little practice. I have bowled any where from one to two leagues, practice, subbing.
We both bowl tournaments, me more so. Dexter just are not that great of shoes. Atleast they had a bad few years.
The 6's and 7's look okay. My SST5 Comforts are an improvement over others we have owned.

That's interesting because I am a big dude and hard on shoes in general. I've never had any problems with Dexter SST 5's. I have an old pair that I've had since 1995 in which there are no problems with and a new pair of SST5 Sports that I got in January that are aweseome.
