View Full Version : Ball and style not matching up?
BB pearl

Hey Hammerheads, im currently rolling a Comumbia 300 Action Max, now this ball has led me to some nice scores, but I dont think it is matching up to my bowling style, low revs and low speed 14mph, I believe it burns up too quickly on the lanes. Now, I previously used a Big Blue Pearl, I liked the way the ball rolled and matched up quite nicely. Would I be better suited with a ball that goes longer such as a BW or even wait for the BWP. Because they have the same core as my BBP, and they would go longer. Does this sound correct? and other ideas or suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance.

I have not thrown the Columbia ball you are talking about. If you liked the Big Blue Pearl then I think you would like a number of other Hammer Products.
I generally do not like my bowling balls drilled to go long however, the description of the Black Widow of going long and then striking was the slogan that got me to get a BW.
My recommendation is drop the Action and come back to Hammer. If your ball is "burning up to quickly" you might want to try polishing it to get it to get through the heads and keep more energy.
If you play on heavy conditions: No Mercy, Really dulled Black Widow or Toxic (360-500), Hawgzilla
If you play on medium conditions: Black Widow, Toxic, Pain, Doom, Blue Vibe
If you play on light conditions: Either Vibe, Pure, or one of the above drilled to go long and polished.
I like the Hammers.

i roll anywhere from 14.5 - 16 mph with medium revs. I throw up 2nd arrow (idealy) and the bw OOB is just awesome. its so forgiving. I have 3 shots: the one I love which is strait up 2nd arrow and my shoulder is dipped just a little bit but my head is nice and strait. it kills everytime. my 2nd shot: I try to do my first shot but I put too much arm into the ball and slightly turn my body and pull the ball (17 mph), it gets into the oil and im like "oh shit" but it hits brooklyn and usually strikes or sometimes leaves a 5 (lefty). 3rd shot: swing my arm out and in and push the ball - the widow (if not sport shot) will go out to 34 or 35 and come back in. depending on the pocket set if you come in light you might leave a bucket but this bal will get you alot of strikes when you clearly dont deserve them. coming in high with this ball is great, it likes to push all the pins back into the pit. as for corner pins it all depends on wshat kind of day you're having. somedays it will sweep them clean every shot and somedays it just leaves em standing. coming in high with the bw is MUCH more forgiving than coming in light.

Thanks for the advice everyone, i just went out and shot my new high game of 267 only using hammer products, I think i will come back to hammer, I hope the new raw hammer is a particle pearl ball, I love my BBP but its getting old and I want to replace it with a particle pearl ball and save my Action Max for floods.

i dont know how a ball could burn up with a low rev and low ball speed bowler, unless you are bowling on a bone dry condition? whats the drilling on the action max and the big blue pearl??

Well, where me and him bowl, the outside is dry so maybe he is getting it to the outside too early.
