An X-blem, a.k.a. x-out ball is one that for one reason or another did not pass the manufacturer's inspection. Alot of times, it is because of coloring or odd pin location. All companies have them and sometimes will sell at a lower price just to get rid of them.

There is nothing wrong with the performance, so if you can buy say an x-out Black Widow for $140.00 as opposed to my shop's price of $179, more power to you.

$189 is the lowest I have seen it, $140 for a NEW black widow is hard to believe.

Just wondering, they sometimes say that i could be from pitting in the coverstock, what does that mean. Also, what is an unusual bomb location

I use a Vibe Blue X-out

had a red vein in it, so they sold it cheap

damn nice ball 3" pin and drilled strong...I brought it down to 1800 grit and it hits like a freight train on everything up to medium oil conditions...

Got my X-blem drilled tonight. I found a great deal on a non hammer ball and could not pass it up. THere was a very, very small blemish in the polish so I got a great ball really cheap. I wont leave details cause I know most dont want to hear about non hammer balls but I will say it is an amazing ball with a huge hit.:D

It was a Storm Thunderstruck Pearl. First game started rough with the box finish so I took it to the shop and had my pro hit it with 2000 abralon. Man, this ball just came alive. Finished the first game with a 176, second game 199 and third game 260. Bolwed a couple of practice games after league and got more used to the ball and it just carries better than any ball I have ever thrown.:D

Sorry Hammerheads.:(

Pitting in the cover comes from the manufacturing process. If you've ever seen Ebonite's hook again treatment kit or haven't, look at the plastic casing you put around the ball and pour the stuff into. That is essentially a used ball mold form the factory.

Pittign comes when air bubbles get trapped in the surface material as the cover hardens. Most get trimmed off with the excess cover material as the ball is shaved down to the USBC diameter limit. However, if enough pitts are left, they will X-OUT the ball. Usually brand new balls will have some anyway because the company is less picky and wants the ball out on the shelf.

Again, no big deal. I have some non-blems that have tiny pitts in the cover.
