So my summer leagues all start next week..i'm going to be bowling PBA Experience on Monday nights, Adult/Youth Tuesday, Money league on Thursday. I currently have a Black Widow that i bought in the beginning of the season, Absolute Inferno i bought 2 years ago, and a Storm Eraser Banshee that i bought oh about 3 or 4 yrs ago. I want to throw more Hammer balls. What ball would you recommend? Blade series? Hawgs? I'm not looking to get a No Mercy right now, just an older ball that won't be as expensive. I am a cranker that likes to play outside with a high rev rate and medium speed. I would like to get a really shiny ball that will have good backend. I know the Widow does, but just something different i guess...

Storm Domination - One of my teammates has one that is really nice....has it drilled for skid flip and it really gets down the land before making a hard right to the pocket....(he's a lefty)....I should mention it hits almost as hard as my BW....
If you want a hammer ball - if you can find a HawgZilla, they are a beast and take surface adjustments really well...
Personally, I like the BW....play with the surface a bit and you might find something that will work...
Right now, mine is in OOB, but for summer, I am going to take it to 2000 with a light polish....I expect lane conditions for summer league to be pretty much burnt out from kids and open play before the leagues start...

yup, i'd suggest either a HawgZilla, Toxic or a Fury
for PBA, i'd go with a Toxic, a polished pearl will complement your BW (dull or sanded) so you can cover the different lines/patterns.

I was looking at the Toxic. A girl on my junior team has one...she was a very slow roller tho, but it had a wicked backend. I might check it out.

I would suggest the Toxic as well. Very shiny with a nice strong backend reaction.:D

I would suggest either the BW or a pain if you can get a good deal on one. They take to surface adjustment much better than most balls out there. Look at what the pros throw, BW, NM, HZ and pain, some have the blue vibe as their spare and I know of one that uses the 'old school' purple vibe that I have and love so much. I think it depends on how much tinkering you do with the coverstock, if you do little to none, the toxic or BW is a great idea, if you are looking to get into it more, the BW and Pain are what I give my vote to what you would like the most.
PS, we should have a separate sections for "wicked backends" I vote we start one right away.

I already have a BW. I'm not all for getting a 2nd one...id rather get a new ball. I'm going to be going to the pro shop this week and ask my pro what he thinks about me getting a Toxic. I really like that ball now that i think about it.

I don't own stock in "black widow" by any means but understand all the different things you can do with a second one. I bought a second one and had it drilled for length putting the pin above the ring finger. To polish it too is an option. Point is the same ball can yield massively different results when drilled differently.
Black Widow #1-strong drilling
23 games
43.2% strikes
9.65% splits
averaged 8.59 pins on my first throw and had only 3 games over 200 avearging 179.78
Black Widow #2-length drilling
17 games
44.0% strikes (about the same)
only 4.19% splits,
averaged 9.03 pins on my first throw and have had 8 games in the 200s
(8 splits total and 8 games over 200)
averaging 186.12....
as you can see, I am not a pro bowler having just taken up the game in feb'06 but my point is to consider everyone different variations of the same ball can give you more to work with when trying to create the best path to the pocket.

I'd suggest a PAIN or Toxic. I shot a 257 after my first 6 months, 3 months with the pain, first 3 months house ball, and no big scores.

see i thought the pearl was one that they were keeping overseas. i don't know. but i hope it's not black. i know i have a no mercy, and it took a lot to get that one, i just like to watch colors spin down the lane. like i would buy the toxic just for the color, let alone it's an awesome ball. i might just do that. but anyway. one would think that with the success of the no mercy, they'd keep that line going. they need something to replace the blade series....

I think they are coming out with a new no mercy but i don't wanna make a bad judgement.

I heard that the NO MERCY will replace the hawg series so, we should get a new NO MERCY!!!

Well i just came back from my pro shop. And i bought a TOXIC/ I'm going to pick it up tomorrow and throw some games with it. He is going to leave it OOB and then shine it up as needed. Going to be drilled for minimal flare. Can't wait!
