I've been told my release is good, but I know it is very weak. Currently I'm curling the pinky under to make up for alot of revs I dont have.

My thumb comes out once the ball hits the ground, and my fingers rotate the ball, just not alot. I cant ever seem to get any revs on my shot, so my Widow is basically hardly doing anything for me as a result. Last night I was figuring it out some, but my whole release just doesnt do the ball justice.
I need some tips for reving up the ball some more. I have no problem hitting a mark, just getting the ball from the mark into the pocket at an optimal speed.

Do you have a video camera? It would help to see a vid of the shot...

sadly not...

I've seen pictures of my shot from my phone, and my biggest problem is that I dont know if I need to push or not with the fingers.

So I dont know what to do when the thumb comes out...I've read so many articles about this crap, I know I need a coach, but I dont have any money right now.

When the ball falls off your thumb, do you want to get more of a 90 degree or 45 degree release?

If you dont have revs thats fine, you can let the ball do it for you. I just bought a NM and all I have to do is relax, pick an angle and let her go. Make sure you clean your ball.

And if that doesnt work get a coach.

What drill pattern? Send a pick so we can see if they drilled it wrong.

well...my release angle depends on the lanes.
Usually the 90 degree release I do on extremely light oil, it makes my ball hook later (I'm surprised I can do this one really, I figured it out by accident)

The 45 degree release is the one I am more comfortable with and I do this more often.

Do you cock your wrist or leave it straight, cocking the wrist can add alot of revs to a weak delivery. I would suggest a wrist positioner until you can get the proper feel.

When I need more revs, I simply narrow my pinky/forfinger in tight to my grip fingers and make sure I am pointing my forefinger directly at the line I intend to throw on.

Also, are you gripping the ball through the release. If you are, relax it some. This will improve accuracy and allow the thumb to release cleaner and the fingers to lift more....

Lift the fingers and uncock the wrist at the point your thumb clears the hole and you will generate a healthy amount of revs regardless of your swing strength...

Careful with applying "lift" with the fingers. Make sure that if you do, you are not simultaneosly apllying pressure with the thumb. That can mess you up big time...

I am cocking my wrist. Like...Doug Kent cocked...I think I might just think I have a weak release because my Widow doesnt get good revs on it. I use the same delivery on any polished ball and I rev the hell out of it. I just got The One and I rev the hell out of it. Only difference is that the thumb on The One is tighter, but that messes me up on a few shot.

I figure I'm griping with the Widow and I got something to fix that, its thumb cushion.

Do you mean that you can give more revs to a polished ball but not to a sanded ball. Also, if the one hooks a lot, but the bw doesn't something might be wrong with the bw. Also, what weight is the one, and the bw.

Both 15, the One actually is heavier. The Widow still hooks out of the house though. I just cant rev it. I'm gonna get different finger grips in the Widow, I think that as well as the thumb may be sources robbing my revs.

Be wary of using equipment as a quick fix for rev problems. You should worry more about the way the ball comes off your hand than the way it's drilled. Use the money you would spend getting new grips and get a lesson with a reputable coach.

I havent gotten anything redrilled and I dont have to.

My release is stronger with The One for some odd reason, same with every polished ball I throw, but I havent ever used a sanded ball with good release. I think my Widow will be better once I get the thumb to fit, as well as the fingers.

:D :D :D :D
So happy! Just got back from practice. The results are in, I put the thumb thing in my Widow, and I rev the hell out of it now. I actually dont have a weak release...whoops. Just a problem with the thumb fitting.

I would have shot 300 with The One if it werent for my little brother. I had the front 4, then he walked up behind me and yelled, "GET A SPARE" during my delivery, I pulled the ball by 2 boards, and left 4-7-6-9-10. Then I struck til the 10th, and on my first shot my brother did the exact same thing. I was so pissed off I just chucked my spare ball down the lane...

I had a friend of mine make a noise while I was bowling once, I sure do miss bowling with her.
