I heard that storm bowling balls have (in the past) craked. Does anyone know why?

My Paradaigm developed a small crack between the finger holes after a few months of use. The pro shop replaced it no problem. Since then I heard from another guy that his Paradaigm cracked twice. I don't know if this is a problem with just Paradaigms or all Storm balls. I do see alot of different Storms out there and I never hear anybody else having a problem like that.

STORM bowling balls do not have problems with cracking. Some of the PARADIGMS did crack and STORM issued replacements. The cracking issue has not been a problem in any STORM products. STORM NATION RULES !!! #1 in the industry !!

Well let's just say I have never heard of a Hammer Ball Cracking. And i'm using a hammer that was made in the late 70s! So say what you want to but maybe the Storm website would suite you a little better than the Hammer one.

Any bowling balls with grips or extra holes can crack. There called stress cracks. IT HAPPENS IN ALL BOWLING BALLS. If your using a bowling ball from the 70's then good for you.......... and yes the STORM website does suit me better, but this is a public forum and I AM ENTITLED TO AN OPINION. Quit being such a HAMMERHEAD !!!!!! :D

anyone else laugh at the contradiction, HAMMER RULES!!!! Storm is for girly men. They do make some pretty balls that my 7 year old neice might like. If you are a meat eater or at the very least eat something for dinner that once had parents, then you are too much man for anything but hammer. Enjoy your Tofu and bean sprouts qwerty and good luck finding the storm site, you are obviously lost. Do I hear an amen?

Sir, please put together 1 cognitive thought and get back to us.
Now, as for Hammer being bought out........Sir, that happened YEARS ago. Welcome to 2006. Hammer currently has a couple of the BEST balls on the market.
Here let me help you find the Hammer staff.
http://www.hammerbowling.com/staff/
What stats are you looking at that provide you with the deduction that S balls are 'better' then Hammer?
hammerslammer300
05-30-2006, 08:22 AM
well first of i would love for you to name a ball right now that is one of the best in the market right now....Road hawg? saw blade? if those are the balls...then i got a question...have you thrown a ball that hooks yet...we should meet up some where let you throw my passion or my triple x factor ...even my hot rod pro stock....
then pull out your "top of the line hammer balls" ...you'll see the different...
and the stats i am talking about is a well known fact...i talk to pro shop guys around the US and they dont cary many hammer balls because one they arnt popular and people wouldnt buy them if he had them anyways.....
Yes, a cognitive thought would be beneficial, since an argument based on pure emotion is about as useless as it gets. It is, of course, true that Hammer was bought out years ago by Ebonite, and that since then there has been a pretty significant improvement in the Hammer line. You can't base an argument on a couple of professional bowlers, after all, they change sponsorships frequently and have obviously established themselves in careers that most of use think of as recreation. Do you recall that W.R. Williams Jr. used Hammer products in the past and posted several of his wins with them? And let's not forget the present, as Tommy Jones captured the player of the year with Ebonite.
But before you retort with rants about Storm, did you know that Storm is currently in such financial turmoil that they are contracting all of their baseline balls to be developed and produced by Columbia? And as far as sales go, perhaps Storm is most popular in your area, but I can tell you with certainty that in my city Hammer is the most popular selling brand. And not without reason.
And as for your claim that Hammer balls don't hook, well, obviously several factors go into this, such as drilling, ball selection, lane oil, bowler style, etc. If you drilled a Hawg or Road Hawg the same as your favorite Storm ball and threw them the same way, I'd be very surprised if you didn't get a comparable hook with them. In other words, if you can't hook any of the Hawgs or Deals, or even the Doom, then, well, perhaps you rely a little too much on the ball itself to do the hooking.
But it is obvious that you prefer Storm balls, and that is fine. Everyone has different taste, and I'm sure there are balls from all the manufacturers that are great. Partiality is just that. Taste is taste.
But my suggestion is that Storm opinions be kept on Storm's site, and other manufacturers' on their respective sites, and that this forum be designated for Hammer products, since it is a Hammer site. I'm sure Storm would like your web traffic...
Regards.

Who would want to call him anyways? If he is near as immature as he sounds then it would be like talking to a child! Leaving a 10 pin is due mainly to Player error. If you like storm that's great (Atleast your buying from a bowling company and supporting it). And next time you want to impress someone with 3 300s, try it on an APE that might suit your SPECIAL needs better. One more suggestion your phone number should be 1800-Iam-Lost, because there is this place called StormBowling.com  (Which is a great site by the way) and maybe, somehow, your have lost your way. Here I will even help you and put a button you can click on in case you get lost http://www.stormbowling.com/. There you go, and if you need more help (Mental, or Psychological) you give me a call at 1800-Don't-Care. Thanks :D

First let me say that JDR you went about responding wonderfully, and I look forward to reading more from you. I usually only see fighting like this with Lane 1 equipment. I can say I have rolled both storm and hammer and like both. That doesnt mean I havent had balls from both companies not work for me, had a Hawg and Real Deal, neither worked for me, Had a Big Deal and Deal love and still own and throw, Have a passion that I am selling, have a Paradigm and would get rid of it for anything. I have a couple different inferno's (absolute and Scorchin) like both of them, it comes down to what works and what you feel confident in. I think every company makes good balls you just have to find what works for you. When you do great, good luck and good scoring. Just wanted to throw my two cents in, hope I didnt hurt anyones feelings.
P.S. To HammerPrideIL Jason, I can hook a tuff/plastic ball too if I throw it slow enough, so thats nothing too big. My 5 year old cousin hooks the hole lane with her tweety ball, so what? Maybe the stuff didnt hook for him oh well his loss. He is saying his passion is awesome and I think its a piece of *&^# but hey it works for him.

I'd bet any of us could pick a major ball manufacturer at random and find something in that manufacturer's lineup that suited our playing style. It's not like there aren't enough balls to pick from on the market today. With all the drilling options and coverstock tuning that goes on I think we'd be hard-pressed to find a true dud of a ball. Let's face it, Hammer, Storm, Brunswick, Columbia, Track, and all the rest make some fine equipment for us to play with.
Until recently, my bag contained a mix of Storm and Hammer equipment. Even with my meager bowling skills, I managed to shoot a couple honor scores with both brands. Kudos to both companies. But... I had all my gear stolen a couple months ago and have opted to rearm myself with Hammer. I won't get into specific reasons. Let it suffice to say that I like what I see from Hammer, on several fronts, more than my other options.
Bottom line is I figure if I can't make a ball work, it's MY fault for selecting a ball either completely unsuited for my game, or, for the shot I'm trying to pull off. That said, I'd rather we get back to some HammerTalk. I still have to find a ball or two to keep my Hawg Wild company. Since I'm going Hammer, I'd rather read some good Hammer posts from the experts so I can make some more informed decisions.
So... What's the latest scoop on the HawgZilla?... Am I waiting til August? ;)
Thanks, all.

JASON You obviously know what a toe is. You look at yourself in the MIRROR everyday !!! As for the rest of you....remember this is a "PUBLIC FORUM". People are entitled to opinions. You people rip on someone personally for an opinion about his choice and experience with a bowling product. Telling him to grow up, get lost...real classy !!! And finally....you people are absolutely right... if he has an opinion (just like I was told) about STORM then go to the STORM forum...which is what I did !!! STORM made the show a heck of alot more than what HAMMER did this past year. He was talking about HAMMER vs. STORM... not EBONITE/HAMMER vs. STORM. Last I knew, HAMMER and EBONITE were still different companies. Plus , without EBONITE, where would HAMMER BE ? And JASON... anytime, anywhere with your HAMMER products against anything STORM. It's amazing how quickly a heated debate can start over brands! I'm only fairly new to Tenpin Bowling and just started in November 2005, but I've quickly learned how easily people are influenced by reputation and brand awareness. It seems that in Australia, the vast majority swear by Storm and Visionary. I met a professional who offered to give me coaching. He swears by Roto Grip and gets great deals from his distributor. He recommends their products to everyone he bowls with.
Personally, I believe that all brands are great in their own right. It's simply just a matter of selecting a ball to suit your style, lane conditions, and having it drilled accordingly. I think Storm are so popular due to their gimmick of making frangranced balls. To tell you the truth, they don't even look that good. My Storm Trifecta is butt ugly. My Screamin' Banshee is alot better though. In terms of appearance, I believe the Hammer and Ebonite range are a standout.

When I contacted storm, and asked about the cracking issues, they said the cracking was caused because the wrong type of gas was used accidently when put into the ball.
Once the realized the issue, they fixed it and made new the new balls and basically gave "vouchers" for those that happened to buy from the first batch released to have them replaced. Since it's kind of difficult to recall all those balls that was easily cracking, and waiting for them to crack and be brought in was a easier solution to the issue.
At least storm is classy enough to do what they did, when there are other companies out there that wouldn't go that far for their fan base, and would have you buy the ball all over again instead.
So I'll give credit where credit is due.
yeh it isnt often that the big name companies will pay attention to their fans and i agree about the credit where credit is due, and hearing this is definately where credit is due, i think all storm bowlers would have been very happy about this... btw my mate had a trifecta and after i night of bowling he noticed a crak near the finger hole, when we were packing away, his ball slipped out of his hand while he was putting it away, and dropped to the ground from about 20-30cm and cracked in half, core and all, i think that this was one of those faulty situations, he got it replace with a VBP immortal and he wont be going back...
