Every time I give my Shift or Black Widow a bath my brother tells me that itis wrong but I am certain there is oil on the surface of the balls.....

I need your advice to see if it is plasticizer.

It is Thick and has a grey color on my rags which only convinces me that R2S Particle Pearl Coverstock may be an oil Soaker.

On my last day of league the manager decided to oil the lanes Heavy.....My ball hooked through the oil no matter how hard I threw it. It almost seems that the ball LOVES oil.Ever since I bowled all those games on Heavy oil I cant seem to bathe the ball without feeling thick stuff on the surface of the ball, I really hope this ball isn't deffective or hurt in any way....I dont know what I'd do without it! :(

If you're using only hot water and a small amount of dish soap, your ball will not be harmed by the cleaning whatsoever. The oil that they put on the lanes is mineral oil and is clear colored, so I don't know what the gray stuff is. I doubt if it's anything with the ball though. Tell this to your lane manager.

I wonder if the gray stuff on your ball is something the ball is picking up from the belt or pit area.

I just tell him not to give em baths after every session of bowling. Didnt say it was plasticizer. He gives them a bath after EVERY time we bowl and it seems like the ball hooks less and less every time we go out and bowl now.

Water won't affect the finger inserts or thumb slug or affect the ball through the x-hole.

stick a towel as far as you can down in em then (I) just put it in front of a fan to speed it up...but really all you can do is let it air dry.

Might be good to get a quick surface sand on the balls, if they're polished... repolish them.

I'd agree that after every session is excessive, unless the session is like 33 games:D

yeah it'd be like 3 games, or 10. Instead of just using cleaner on em, he bathes em. I'm kinda scared about his Shift. It is starting to turn grey in spots over the red color on the ball. I'm wondering whats going on with it.

Since the Black Widow sucks up oil like crazy, sounds like it's time to put it in some Hook Again. That stuff will pull 99.8% of the oil out of it.Don't know if it will work on the other ball.

If I leave some of my balls around water puddles, they'll have grey spots. Mainly, my No Mercy, but I try to keep it bathed. At one time I was bathing it every week, whether it had three game or more (usually had 5-7). Every Friday night.
