I'm wondering what do the better bowlers{200 plus}do with your left arms after you start the delivery?Point it down the lane or put it out to the side for balance?I'm trying to find out if I can get a little more consistant by changing what I'm doing now?Thoughts???

If you stick you left arm out some it will help with balance at the line and through out your approach to the line.

I personally do both. My coach has told me to do the following: If I'm hooking the ball (which I usually am) I point in towards my target with my thumb down, and then during my slide step bring it back square with my body for good balance and leverage. When I'm going straight, my left arm goes straight out to the side to prevent me from opening up the lane too much. Hope this helps.

Interesting will have to try that and see how it works for me. When I want straighter lines and spares.

And the results are in!!!After starting the downswing I kept my left arm pointed down the lane.Think like Chris Barnes. As the ball got almost to the bottom I pulled the left arm back as hard as I could while I released the ball the same way I always do.Holy rack demolition,Batman!!!That Widow carried farther down the lane before it made the break. And what a break it was!!!Found out I had to move 5 boards to the right to hit the pocket EVERY TIME!I have a 183 average and went 184,224 and 225!!!40 pins extra just by changing what my left arm was doing.:D Cashed 2 out of the 3 games in the High Game Pot!:D

Rowdy: This is interesting stuff. I have thought about my left arm before but the Aigaios information re: pointing at target vs. taking left arm out is good food for thought.

Also, I would stress the importance of turning one's thumb down on the way a player opens up the lane. When the thumb is down it's much harder to drastically pull a shot. The only downside is that it takes a little bit of practice to get used to the odd feeling of rolling your shoulder all the way back when you pull it to the side at the end of the approach, and some poeple find it too uncomfortable.

Hey DW,Thanks for the kind words.I'm sure the left arm deal is some kinda leverage thing, cause the ball appears to be going faster but I'm not throwing it any harder.Maybe one of those NASA guys can explain it to us.BTW,couldn't agree more with your comments about folks using this site like ebay. You want to sell a ball, sell it on ebay.Personally,I won't ever buy a used ball.By the time you pay for the ball, shipping, having it redrilled, finger inserts put in and then cleaned up you could probably add 20 bucks more and buy a new ball:D !!!Besides, why buy somebodys else's problem child of a ball?:( Just my opinion, though.

High Game-289 I have bought my paradigm passion on ebay. I bought it for 41 dollars after shipping, moved the thumb only, new inserts, resurfaced. 80 dollars, resurface was free:D New was 235 and i have shot 246 with it already. Nice ball.

My left arm holds my beer.

Not really, I point it straight out from my body to help me balance.
