The blade reactive would be a very good intro ball.

The Blade series is the perfect ball for the beginner. Big Bang for the Buck. Now with the introduction of the Saw Blade, you have a choice of a strong reactive or a strong particle Blade.

Get the Blade Reactive. It will cover a wider range of conditions for you now as a biginner. Then as you get better, you will find out if you have a need for a ball that is better on drier lanes, thus sling blade, or for more oily lanes then you'd get the saw blade.
The Blade reactive is one of the best balls on the market regardless of price.

I'm looking to get a new Hammer. I'm throwing my brother's old PC2, and not doing to bad (218 avg.). I'd like to get into some regional tournies. Anyone have any suggestions on what kind would be best. I throw hard, but do not crank the ball. I usually play on the 5-10 board.

Hammerdad,
I would suggest the Real Deal, it will help get into a roll with better speed. I would suggest also getting the 5-10 board out of your mind. If you are going to bowl regionals, you will have to keep an open mind on where you will play. The conditions are very different from condition to condition. Once you bowl some of the tournaments, you will figure out the holes in your equiptment as well as your game. I highly suggest anyone to bowl regionals, even if you don't cash, I have learned more in each regional I have bowled than months of league or local tourney's. Hope this helps some.

Thanks Bowlerdave, I'll keep that in mind.

Hammerdad,
If you plan on getting a Real Deal be prepared to change your game. The difference between the Real Deal and your PC2 is at lest 10 boards. If you want a stronger ball I suggest you start with a reactive Blade polished or a Switch Blade. This will give you a stronger ball motion and easier transition between the 2 balls. Because the PC2 is a much weaker ball you may not want to change to such a stronger ball.
Hope this helps

Thanks Faball, I think I would rather switch to a ball similar to the one I'm throwing now. I figure "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." But, with a newer ball, I can make it better. I appreciate your help. What kind of cleaner do you recommend?

If you want a similar ball motion to the PC you have currently, I suggest the Pure Hammer. This is the closest ball to what you have. That that big hooking ball but smooth and predictable. No big surprises here
Let me know how it works out
