guys,is there anyone out there that uses a "up the back of the ball release"??
If so could you shed some light on what you try to remember to do with the ring and middle finger???? I've been bowling about a year and a half now and I think this is going to be my bread and butter. Two things that drive my game are the fingers and ball speed, just wondering if anyone out there is good at this type of release as I'm trying to master it.It helps me control the ball further down the lane (wrist is kept still) Also the follow through,is a big thing for me because I had a bad habit of not going all the way through, now I make sure my bicep is up around my ear with my hand and wrist about even with the top of my head.So if anyone is good at this release can you throw some tips my way???? thx

The way I remember is when I start to move I make sure my hand is in the correct position. If I want to stay behind the ball i keep it verticle(grip centerline). If I want to come around the ball I start with the ball at an angle depending on how much I want to come around the ball.

Think about your ring finger going toward the target and your palm should face upward with the thumb to the right during follow through.

Should I be doing anything else with the ring and middle fingers????(Ripping them upward)???? So I get that nice backend move or is that all in the follow through.Since I'm not giving any wrist rotation. thx

I dont go totally up the back of the ball, I rotate my wrist maybe 1/8 of a turn. My fingers dont do anything but let the ball go, the lift I create generates my revs, its easy on my arm and the rest of my body that way.

I just roll my hand around the right side of the ball and just before release(the thumb is already out of the ball)I pull straight up with the fingers to get lift, revs and a nice follow thru.I'm trying to get forward speed AND side roll at the same time. That's what gives the BWP it's amazing backend.Hope some of this helps.

For the most part...all revs come from the "lift" generated by the fingers comming out of the ball. The harder you "hit" or "rip them upward" the more revs you can get.

Ever since I broke my wrist a while ago and had bad elbow problems I cant get my hand or fingers in a very strong position. But here is a clip of 2 shots with one in slo-mo so you can see whats happening. And you can see what my fingers are doing after comming out. The still shot is right at the point where my thumb is comming out of the ball. similar to the link I sent.

Enjoy :) http://media.putfile.com/slomo-48

thanks for the tips !!!!! I'll try this at practice on Thurs or Fri !!!! with this type of release is it better to have a wider index finger spread or just a slight one??? I use a slight one now.thx again;)

A wider index finger will cause you to come around the ball more.

Thats a nice release pilot...

Thank you.

I have my thumb to the right during the set up then throw the ball, no wrist movement.just wind up and follow through,is that the correct way ???? because I am getting a nice backend reaction. (thx)

This is correct. The longer you can keep your hand behind or under the ball, the more it will delay the reaction or roll.

An easy way to see and practice how much tilt you get use a football. Grip it like you would a bowling ball with the points coming out each side. As you roll the ball you can see where the how much tilt you have by where the axis is. The axis will be where the points are.
