Hi All,
A friend pick-up a Hammer 15lb burgundy urethane faball from a yard sale. It was given to me because she thought that I need it to upgrade from my plastic ball to one that hooked... I am new to the sport of bowling, only bowl 3 months or so... With an 144 average in league play... What IM seaching for is any information on the charactistics and care of this ball... (it looks like it is in great condition)... My league"s alley is natural wood and oil with the christmas pattern for league play... The ring and index finger holes fix fine but the thumb spread is to wide... Any inform or help would great...

Sounds like you have one of the old reliables ;) Any chance you could take a picture of it and post it as an attachment?

IMO, going from plastic to your first "hook" ball, you could not have been put in a better situation. The Burgundy Urethane Hammer will provide a mild controllable hook that you will be able to learn with. As a matter of fact, on wood lanes with a christmas tree pattern, that ball should do tremendously well. I still throw my blue urethane on the same conditions, and the ball works flawlessly.

I am a stroker, and that ball should play well "down and in" Stand about the center dot, and throw it over the second arrow, and watch the pins explode! :D

Yes, I visited a web site that had 15 reviews on this ball and all but one give it 5 star's out of 5 being the highest score... Only problem the reviews were about 7-8 years ago... Not much inform about the characteristics or care of the ball...

You'll love it for your first hook ball, just like bigsexy said. Get it drilled to fit, have someone from the pro shop or someone you trust take you out and show you how to use it. It takes a little bit of time to get it right. Good luck brother!

And, welcome to the forum! Post often, you'll be a hammerhead in no time!

Well, she actually sold it afterward. Like an idiot, I left it in the basement after I moved out. It was golf season, so my bowling stuff was put away for the summer. If it had been winter, I'm sure the golf clubs would've been the things to go. The woman had no soul!

I just Bowled a 238 with mine the other day. The kids saw it in the garage and wanted me to try it. I was clean and used it for every shot. Heres (http://forums.hammerbowling.com/showpost.php?p=26363&postcount=31) a shot of it

heres what you do. if you like the layout and everything get the thumb plugged so u can drill the span the right length. resurface the ball cuz it might need it. then if you need slugs or inserts apply those. if the ball hooks to early put some polish if to late sand it. also have your pro shop guy weight the ball to make sure everything is legal for the usbc! by the way great find
