Question About Cherry VIBE Drilled Straight Up

Question... I leave 10 pins like they're cool with my Cherry VIBE. It's drilled straight up... no side weight, not nothing. Pin and CG placed straight down the grip center, pin above fingers. I got this ball for light oil so I could still play the right side of the lane, and it works REAL good running up the 5-8 down and in... except that it leaves 10 pins.

Could this be due to the drilling?

Good question. In the about 10 shots I threw with the Cherry Vibe I think I left ~8 10 pins. I was in a tournament, so I set it aside and went to next ball. I think my entry angle was too flat. I might go for x-hole outside of PAP to give me more hook.

No answer. I just sucked using my Cherry Vibe in limited number of shots with it.

I've got 4 league pattern games down with it and it all of them I did nothing but leave 10 pins. Playing outside the 5 is out of the question because the ball turns early (no oil there). Playing deeper and straight seems to be BETTER but the 10's are still weak and questionable. Was just curious. I'm seriously considering having this thing plugged and redrilled for a "smooth" roll hoping that it fixes the problem. The ball's great for light oil, but the 10 pin mania drives me mad lol

When I start leaving a few ten pins, I take a half step to a full step backwards.

This will mean, providing you still perform the same shot, that the ball will have to travel those half steps further on the lane, giving it turn to roll that fraction more and hopefully end up a half board / 1 board tighter when it makes the pocket.

This usually works 9 times out of ten. Although i hardly ever leave consecutive ten pins!

Try it and let me know what happens mate.

Will do. I've tried stepping back a half step... beyond that I start getting too high on the ten pin. But I'll give it another go. I've moved left and cranked it, right and stroked it, forward AND back... and the ball STILL left 10 pins. But maybe it was a bad night lol ;)

I'm thinking because of the way u drilled it is just too weak to carry it. Too flat of an angle.

That is probably the key. When I leave 10 pins and try adjusting and still am leaving 10 pins. I go to another ball. That is the benefit of the arsenal.

Yep. Getting it from a ball league. I figured it'd be the Cherry Vibe's counterpart... vibe goes long and moves light, the TNV could go long and move hard. The thing is, I really like balls that have a smoother reaction. But for that I can get an anger ;)

My choose a ball league is different than most peoples... instead of getting to choose ANY ball anywhere, we are given a predetermined selection to choose from. My choices were the Storm Special Agent and the Ebonite Total NV, hence my choice. ;)

I wish our houses around here did a choose a ball league like you guys where you get to literally CHOOSE A BALL.

Its a parent/child league and u get a plastic ball. The closest have a ball league to me is 45 minutes a way. Not sure how much though.

So you think just giving it alittle side weight will do? Because here's how it's drilled... I didn't want it doing a whole lot, and it only does what I tell it to. Just wouldn't want to make it do anything crazy ;)

It shouldn't change much but a little and probably enough to get the better carry and a bit better angle.

I don't think it will go crazy if you keep the side weight to say 1/2 oz. You could possible go to 3/4oz side weight and be ok .

There was a post a while ago from Slap I believe talking about where your
x-hole is and how it affects the ball. Hole below or outside of PAP gives max hook for the drilling.

Have driller determine your PAP and tell him/her to put the hole outside or below your PAP and you will be ready to rumble.

Outside is to the right of ur pap for a right hander. Left of ur pap for a lefty.
