Hi..need some help here as I'm new to bowling.

I have a 600grit wet sanded ball and obviously its horrendous on dry lane.

What I need to know is,can I use those ball polish solutions on my sanded ball? How long will each application last?
Or is there a way I can change the surface of my ball from sanded to glossy finish permanently?

Sorry if my questions sound stupid..:D
But I really need someone's expertise on this as I new to bowling...

Thanks in advance

Hey Jonny,

Not a stupid question at all. You should be able to take your ball to a pro shop and have them adjust the surface. It may depend the the type of ball you have I know reactive resin balls (hammers for sure) are really good with surface adjustments. Some particle balls you might not want to polish but I could be wrong, I'm sure Slap may chime in he's our local surface expert :)

So the polish you can buy may give you some length in the short term but it usually wears of after a few games. If your pro shop adjusts your surface to a polished finish your ball will remain like this quite a bit longer.

Best of luck!

Yes, you can take it to a proshop and they can change it to whatever you want for a small fee. Just applying polish will make it go longer down the lane before it hooks.

By no means am I an expert but perhaps one day... :)

There is a lot of room to raise the surface grit from 600. I agree with the previous posters, have your pro shop polish the ball and see if you like the reaction. If it's still not what you want, then you may need to try a different grit under the polish.

Good Question...

What do you have, or what ball are you asking about?

Since your ball is at 600 sanded you have many options to make the ball get down the lane further.

Dull surface: you could try 1000, 2000 or 4000 grit Abralon, (unless you have a home ball spinner, this is best done by a Proshop.)

If you do want a Polished Surface: Just take it to the proshop, this will last for a while but it will need to be retouched or redone from time to time.

With this ball, its kinda hard to play on dry lane.
Any suggestion on what kinda surface should I go for?
How long will it last after getting them to adjust the surface?Months, years?

If all fails,I might wanna get my hands on the Black Widow Pearl, that beauty.
If I have the $$ that is..:D

If i were u, i would bring that ball to 2000 with the ebonite factory finish polish. If u have the money, it might just be better to get a new ball. That way u have a heavy oil ball and a lighter oil ball.

Man I'm a geek. I knew it was a Big B ball when you said 600 wet sand. :D

The PK coverstock was a big hit with brunswick fans, very versatile stuff.

You can have your pro shop follow Brunswick's process for their polished balls, rough buff compound + factory finish polish or have them sand the ball with a 2000 abralon pad or gold scotch brite and then polish. You should get about the same results with either method.

The ball in me says... you should always be looking at getting a new Hammer! ;) Right Slap!

Dull surfaces last until you sand again. Polish is does require some touch-ups to maintain a shine on the surface.
