I have an original red hammer and was wondering what kind of core it had. Could it be drilled aggressively to get more hook on medium oiled lanes? Or is this just a straight line ball with minimum hook potential? Any help would be appreciated.

I shot my first 300 in 1990 with an original red hammer drilled leverage weight. By todays description it would have been a Stacked leverage The original red hammer is a 3 or 4 maybe less on a hook scale of 1-10

The core is very similar to the blade series without the extra "plate" at the top of the block.

The Original Red Urethane Hammer has the traditional / original Faball Hammer core. The same one found in all of the Hammer balls up to and including it's first ( and disaterous) Reactive entry, The Navy Reactive Hammer.
