Hey guys i just realized something. I was watching the video in the how to use a spinner thread and i realized. If u polish a sanded heavy oil ball, it still reacts good and gets good pin carry. But if u sand a polished medium-light oil ball, it may work in heavy oil, but u lose reaction, and carry. Any reason for this.

I dont find that to be true. I have taken balls that were polished and meant to be med/light oil balls and had great results taking the cover down. My Blue Vibe is one of those that works great when sanded. As well as my Wrath.
I guess it is possible to take a polished light oil ball and sand it to 800, it now has tons of surface and generating so much friction that it loses energy too soon

Nice midnight post:D . It seems like it doesn't carry the same as it did on its oob and on its made for condition. The polished heavy oil ball, if its not on extreme dry conditions, most of the times tends to carry the same, or better.

I had a polished V2 Strong/R once that did a good enough job for me. I sold it though because it didn't seem to add anything to the balls I had - it kinda duplicated an existing one rather than being its own entity.

I agree. I've polished sanded balls and sanded polished ball with pretty good results. Yet another reason to own a spinner IMHO. You can do these kind of experiments with minimal effort and cost.

Cover adjustments are not always the same for different balls or different styles. Taking a Toxic down to 500 will not be the same as taking a Doom to 500. For me, taking a BW down to 1000 is no good. But I can take a Pain as low as 600.

Yeah i guess so. Some balls aren't made to be sanded. I guess if i sanded a Vibe down to 500 for heavy oil, it wouldn't work as well as a toxic at 500 for heavy oil.

These days there are so many different variabels besides surface prep. It comes down to expermintation, and the guys that have a spinner(or access to one) can do this very well.
