I have heard it does. I would try the hot water bath first though to save money. Or go cheaper and find the columbia cpr stuff.

I've given my BWS a couple hot water and Dawn baths (after each 30 games or so). My proshop guy advised me to resurface every so many games as well. For me, that's once a year, since I only play on one league. If the resurface doesn't make the old gal hook like she used to, he said we should try the Hook Again.

My Toxic . Do you think it would work? O ok yeah definetly. U know what i would try and do. Go to an acme or maybe even a hardware store and get a green or burgandy scotch brite pad. Wet it with water and sand ur ball one half at a time. Re water it after u do a half. Then re give it a bath. The reason y is to open the pores more than what they are now with the polish. The green will bring it 600 and the burgandy will bring it to 320 or 360. This might work better than the other baths u've given it. Try this before u put it in the Hook Again or CPR.

Yes, I have used Hook Again in my shop quite a bit, and it does work. The whole waiting 24 hours kind of bites, but it's worth it. If you bowl two leagues a year and tournaments, you only need to use Hook Again once a season.
Also resurfacing your equipment along with the Hook Again is that much better. H.A. pulls oil out and pulls the plasticisor (chemical that makes ball hook) around the core in a more even distribution. As the ball rolls down the lane, plasticisor tends to collect in the track resulting in a decreased hook.
Resurfacing gets rid of some surface oil, but the big change is that resurfacing also takes nicks, and marks off the surface which can effect the ball roll. If your pro shop doesn't have a machine, they can use a spinner and sand paper. Start with 120 grit, and sand on both sides of the ball. Gradually decrease the grit (i.e. 220, 300, 400, 600, etc.) until the ball surface is the same as it was out of box.
Scotch brite pads and Abralon pads work better for the smoother grits. Green Scotch brite is about 400 grit. I'm sure your pro shop has smoother grits.
Good Luck

Hehehe! And I DIDN'T bring it up,either!!! Take a 5 gallon bucket, pour in a couple of inches of cat litter, the cheap stuff from Wal-Mart in the red bag works great, put your ball in the bucket and cover with the litter.Cover the bucket with tin foil and wait for a couple of days or more if you can. Clean with Powerhouse Energizer or something simular. According to the tech guys at Hammer, this will pull about 90% of the oil out of the ball. BTW-those same guys are the ones who told me about this!

OK, when I left the Forum, way back when, the litter thing was being debated. Are you guys saying it really works? Is this an alternative to the Dawn bath, or should it be done along with it?

I've used all three methods and they all work. It's just how much time and money you want to spend.

Sounds like you need to pick up a good bottle of cleaner... Power Wash or Energizer. And give that ball a hot water bath. Do you have a guess on how many games the ball has on it?
Hook Again does work. Used it three times.

The more powder-like you can get the litter, the better it'll work.

Get some Ebonite or Track Clean n Dull, stuff is amazing. U use it once a month for a deep cleaning if u don't wanna do the bath. Use power wash or energizer after every set though.

John C-no,you don't do anything to the ball at all.
Mongo's right on.The more you mash the litter up the better it will work.
