This is two good league nights in a row. After a summer of getting my arse kicked, I think my game is coming together. I really need to tighten up my spare game over the next few weeks and I'll be ready for the fall.

Pattern: Scorpion

Balls:
Awesome Revs 2000
No Mercy: 4000
BWP: 2000 matte
Trusty Blue Dot

Lines: Standing on 17 throwing down 10 board,

Scores:

Game 1 (AR 2 frames, then NM) 62 54 X 91 X 7/ XX 9- XX9=183
Game 2 (NM) X 9- X 9/ 9/ 9- X 8(s)- X X7/ =168
Game 3 (NM, BWP in 8th) 9/ XXX 9/ 9/ 8(s)/ 9/ 9- 7/6 =199

Stats:
Avg 183.3
Strike % 41 (14/34)
Spare % 59 (10/17)
Single pin % 58 (7/12) This is killed my 600 series

Its nice when the pba patterns cooperate every now and then. Scorpion was the pattern that matched up best with my game.

Here's good luck on making it 3 weeks in a row of doing better.

Nice shooting Slap.

We're running Scorpion as well, and I shot a 127-191(clean)-159 for a 477 series. I couldn't seem to get on track the first game, the second was clean (woohoo!), and the third I didn't move left until the 6th frame. OOPS

How fast are you throwing your strike ball compared to your THS? I found that in the last game, my normal THS speed worked the best. I've also found that I've been babying the ball too much in this summer's PBA league.

I personally like the "cheater" (cheetah) pattern. Even I can throw a 185 average on that. I wish I had my BWP and spinner when we played that pattern earlier this summer ;)

Great job slap. Do you think you'll ever participate in a THS league again? Just to be one of those guys with a 240 avg.?:D

I think I'm going to do one of each this fall - the Wednesday Match Play (THS) league, and the PBA Experience league (it will finally be sanctioned - whoot!). That should be competitive enough for the year :)

This was our first week on Scorpion. Chamelion has been my favoite so far..

I almost had a clean game, I missed a 7 pin in the 9th! I normally throw ~17 on THS. I was able to maintain that on the Cheetah and Chamelion. On the other three patterns I had to slow the ball some to have some control on the breakpoint.

Great job slap. Do you think you'll ever participate in a THS league again? Just to be one of those guys with a 240 avg.?

Yep, THS league starts in Sept. That league should show much more improvement I made this summer. I held a 187 there last season so my goal is 217. The other winter league I'll be in is on a modified house shot, hopefully they'll make it an official sport league this season. If I can hold a 190 there I'll be happy.

Ideally I would like 1 THS/ 1 Sport league for the winter season and 2 Sport leagues in the summer. For me bowling this summer has been about working hard. My scores have been pretty crappy in both leagues.

Slap, good shooting! You and I seem to have similar styles. I played Scorpion very similar to you and finally scored for a change. But so far, Scorpion is my best pattern.

Congrats on the good scores... Think I had 2, maybe 3 series in the 500+... they where very satisfying.

The place where I bowled my PBA Experience runs a monthly tournament on Championship Patterns and PBA Patterns. Would like to bowl atleast a couple of those, maybe more. Don't really want to bowl another league, right now. Need to work on my game and get rest to let my hand heal.

I hope to one day be good enough to try bowling on the same patterns that the PBA does, that's my long term goal atm. So far though, I have a long way to go considering I'm in my first league in over 7 years, and haven't bowled for the first 6 1/2 of it. But my team is tied for first place with 3 weeks to go, and because of that I'm taking a few bowling lessons to see if I can fix a few things while raising my average from what it is during that time.

Because I want to be ready for the winter league as well.

You dont have to be a certain level to bowl on them. I think the beginner would most improve from it because it teaches them early to shoot the spares straight and to hit ur mark instead of learning on 15 boards of room.

tonight was another "grind it out night" with the BWP on the Reno pattern. I started out shooting like crap the first game but I maintained my mental focus and took the next 3 and series. That was tonight's lesson, forget the last bad game and get ready for next one.

8/ X 9- XX 7(s)1 9- 9/ X 81 = 158
X 9- X 9/ 8/ XXX 8(s)1 X -/ = 192
X 9/ X 9/ 7/ 63 63 7/ X 63 =159
XXXXX 6(s)3 7/ X 9/ X9- = 223

avg 183
Strike % 48 (20/42)
Spare % 58 (11/19)
Single Pin % 56 (5/9)
Split % 7 (3/42)

Yep, The first game I missed three easy spares, no excuses there. The pair of lanes for the third game transitioned faster than the other pairs, and I'm the only lefty in this league. Although I had good count in the first four frames all those balls were high flush. I never made the proper adjustment. All of those 6 counts in the third game were 1-3-6-7s from me throwing too far outside.
