Hello, I want a new Hammer to replace my deadbeat Morich Shock & Awe. I want a ball with the most backend and recovery I can get and all my research has led me to narrow it down to the Anger or Beat'n
I'm starting to lean toward the Anger since I 've read that it may be the best all around lane condition ball, with a stronger backend reaction then the Beat'n. Or so I've read. To make things worse, I have gotten some votes thrown in for the Black widow pearl as well.
I can't pull the trigger on this purchase til I get some solid experienced based advice from some of you fine folks.
Thanks in advance,
Neal

The Anger will work best all around. Even with a “Mild” drilling, it can handle a wider variety of conditions than the BWP or NMB. It will handle carry down much better than the BWP and the cover won’t absorb as much oil as the NMB. And it’s cheaper than both

I agree. But, for a recreational bowler (any leagues?) I'd say go for a vibe. The Anger unless polished up will be too strong for most open bowling conditions.

I have a Anger and often throw it on open conditions. (when Im with my gf) Mine is drilled for max hook witch is #1 drill on hammers list for the core. Anyway the video I posted was on the dry house shot. Take a look. Maybe it will help with your choice. And as for more backend....I have not thrown the NMB yet so I would not know. But when it comes to my Anger and BW. My Anger has more. (because of drilling) And carry down doesnt seem to bother it much and is very forgiving. I can play a deep/thight inside line or a outside line or throw across the lane. I can even play the third arrow on the left. (Im right handed) And It almost always comes back.
Well hope this review helps. Goodluck.

Honestly, I'd try to find a deal on a Pain. For my game, it's the best ball for house patterns. I like it better than my Anger for THS.

Something to think about..a recreational bowler....usually bowls on med to dry lanes due to the fact that...at least where I am....the oil is saved more or less for the league bowlers......an anger, in my opinion, would not be a good choice for a dry lane ball...or even a medium....thats just my take though.....a vibe would be the way to go there....3 ball arsenal with the newer balls..now..this is only my opinion...Anger...for heavy to med....BWP for med....and a Vibe for light to medium....but that is just my take...so dont get the panties in a wad about it ...im tired of hearing how great people are and how they know everything...if you read this..and it helps..cool...if not...then go to the next thread....this know it all bs has kept me away from this site as of late...and quite frankly..its funny...at first...but day after day...just wears out on ya...now with that being said.happy bowling....and boil some crawfish!! woot woot
I don't want to sound like a know it all but it's not crawfish season anymore.

id agree with most of that. I find my anger to be to much ball for the regular, burnt up lanes. Not saying its not fun to lay it down on the 38 board and watch it go to the 2-3 and come back Brooklyn. But frankly i have a much better time with either of my widows than the anger. I have since realized i could use a vibe :) Best of luck on whatever you choose though.

No votes for the Beat'n how come? Is it because it's a new ball and everyone is on the BWP banwagon? I have only the Beat'n and I throw it on med to heavy oil. The backend reaction is tremendous!!!! Comes back like no other ball I've had. Now, I'm no expert and only a house league bowler but the Beat'n gets a 10 out of 10 from me.
I'm on the BWP banwagon also I guess, gettin' one for my B-Day.

KINGS...I agree....when there is oil...yea..the beat'n..but it was questioned for a recreational bowler....which usually means bowling on drier lanes..if he can bowl somewhere that has oil ....Id say go for it....but I know in this area..recreational bowlers get all the burnt or drier lanes...the league bowlers get the oil

I guess your right. With low to no oil the beat'n is gonna take off on him.

It depends on his game. I've seen people who have plenty of revs throw the No Mercy on house patterns and do very well with it.
I personally haven't thrown a NM or a NMB to compare to my Pain, but my Pain hooks plenty for the house shot and I'm not a high rev player.
That's not to say that I couldn't throw a NMB or NM and have equally or better results. I just like the ball I have and don't see a need to change.

Thanks to everyone for their input! It's gonna be a tough choice, I may take a closer look at the BWP.
I will say that, when I go to the lanes, it's during the middle of the day or in the morning so few people are usually there. The lanes are nice and fresh.
Thanks,
Neal

Since you're now considering a BWP,I'll chime in for that ball. I just think that it's more versitile than either the Anger or Beat'n. I can throw mine either long or short, inside or outside, whatever the lane calls for.

Between the anger or beat'n, I would take the anger for the recreational bowler, because lane conditions for public bowling are very seldom in heavy oil except when it's getting close to league time.
I find the beat'n best used for heavy and med-heavy oil myself, so I wouldn't suggest it.
The BWP is a great ball in my opinion, and I've had better scores with it than my BW and beat'n, and I've used in conditions from med- to heavy oil. Although, it does best in the medium-medium heavy oil.

I suppose what we need here is someone that has thrown the NMB the anger and the bwp ..I havent...I have only thrown my bwp...so what I have stated in this thread is only observation and my opinion..so if there is anyone who has thrown all three...it would be suggested to get their opinion.....good luck with your choice...and your outcome...have a good one.

I have 2/3, missing the anger.
