On the Black Widow drill sheet for strong layout, it is stated to put the mass bias in a strong position. May I ask what does it mean by strong position ? Thanks ! :)

I believe that is the 45 degree position. Put the MB 45* between the center of grip line and center of span line. I'm not 100% by any means. Anyone else have a definitely answer on this?

If you want a 45* layout on the BW, you draw a line from the pin through the MB. You then mark 45deg from that line a draw another line from the pin. determine you pap distance to pin and mark it on that second line. It has nothing to do with the grip centerline or center.

Generally, yes. The closer the MB is to the PAP the earlier the roll.

Looking at Black Widow's drilling #3 Strong layout, is that a stacked drilling layout ? Sorry for all the trouble, I intend to get a black widow and would like to get the drilling right. Thanks !:o

Mine is a hybrid of #3... The low and medium track... the pin position is above the fingers like the low track, but the pin is more towards the ringer finger like the medium track. The closer the pin is to your PAP, the early the ball will start. When you place a pin above the finger the ball will go longer before the break point.

Hope this helps.

Most people refer to a stacked layout is when the Pin and CG are directly in line parallel to the grip center line.

If you want the drilling to be right. Find out your PAP distance and tell the proshop that number and what you want the ball to do. they should take it from there.

What do you want/need this ball to do? What type of league will you be rolling in? What's your style? Fast or slow,Big or little hook, lots of revsor little to no revs? Reason I'm asking is because if we had some idea about what you're trying to do we could maybe come up with the correct drilling for the ball. The league question was more along the lines of:Regular or House shot vs. Sport Bowling. Let us know so we can get this done for you.

Hammer 66,,,,,,,

Here are a few trhings to run through your head before you get the BW drilled.

How many different leagues do you bowl in. What type of conditions do these leagues usually roll on. Heavy oil? Light oil? short oil? long oil? Sport shots? PBA patterns?

Factor these in and come up with you best answer. After you realize what codition you will be regularly bowling on, as your pro shop guy or pro to lay the ball out for these patters. A strong ball layout might not work on a long/heavy oil pattern. where an earlier rolling layout will. And then you still might have to adjust the surface of the ball for the condition.

Let us know .
